Blush!

I'm actually quite excited about the new spring colour palette: Pastels. Up to now my attitude towards the soft ice hues was: Too 80s, only for elderly ladies, definitely not for freckly red haired people (like me) – In short, just wrong.

Maybe it’s because I am actually older now, maybe I aspire to become a(n elderly) lady; maybe it’s because I read that black is a difficult colour to wear*, maybe it’s dreaming of spring, maybe it’s the recession... WHO CARES?!?... I just suddenly take a liking to spring colours.

Being a 'normal' woman – i.e. wanting to look underfed and cool – my wardrobe strongly features black and is rather void of ice cream colours. Just in one dark corner I found this rosé silk blouse.** It’s a start.

*According to the Daily Mail it makes you look old, wrinkly and drained. But, I say, it also makes you look intellectual, cool and slimmer...

**... and asked Sarah to model it for me in the snow. But please with lots of skin to accentuate the rose colour. So cruel.

You must be awful brave to frolick in the snow in that! The sock boot combo is cute. If you were looking for seattle pictures, look at this ancient post: http://indigo-umbrella.blogspot.com/2009/04/saturation-of-color.html
or just search "seattle" on our blog.

That's not you, is it? Love Claire

You're quite right, Claire. It's my lovely model Sarah. She walked out wrapped up in a big fat coat, which she had to hand over. I would have liked her to go bare feet, but she refused... (just kidding, I think the boots add a nice touch).

I love the soft hue of the photography, it fits perfectly with your pastel pallet. Chalky ice cream colours look gorgeous when they are all layered together .

Please never ever follow advice from the Daily Mail! Your self-worth is much greater x

You are so right, Lewis. To my defense I can only say I got it from the NY Times Magazine Blog 'The Cut' and they had it from the Daily Mail...

I used to dislike pastel colors with a passion, but lately I too have started obsessing over them! :D I think it's Spring Fever kicking in!

I agree. Pastel blouses, yay! Loved last years Balmain rock chic hard shouldered look but this years corals and prettiness will be a nice change

I have to agree with you about pastels - I absolutely adore them and am thrilled to see them coming back! Your top is adorable - but your legs...you must have been freezing!! :)

Haltrup said...

I personally don't like pastels colors- maybe because I'm younger than you- but I think it can look nice on red haired people :)

Sabine said...

Oh, thank you, Haltrup! Ever so charming...

I adore pastels too, so feminine. I still wear them regardless of what people say about them being on pale people
