Rouge, mon Amour

Pastels, white and beige, denim and (sophisticated) Wild West, strong prints and raw cuts… The spring/summer collections have an air of rough avantgarde and one colour obviously doesn’t fit into this mood: Red. It’s true, Dolce & Gabbana showed some 40s inspired satin skirts with flowery prints, but even here it was more about the flow of the fabric and the botanics than the background shade. And when Mr Schuman posted a picture of a glorious redhead holding a shiny scarlet Louis Vuitton bag it just seemed to accentuate the fact that red is more appropriate for accessoires than for proper dressing these days.

Men might love red (just think of film titles like the 'Woman in Red' and songs like 'Lady in Red', not to mention that every proper sex bomb needs to show herself in a tight red dress from time to time), but what is the average red-blooded male to fashion? Nada, rien, niente…

So what’s your stand on the most extroverted, temperamental, hot and passionate hue? Only for special occasions or an every day colour? Just for handbags, scarves, gloves and Co. or do you like to clad yourself top to toe in the colour of love?

You look wonderful in red - wish I could say the same about myself! Red shades wash me out terribly and I've never found a shade I really get along with. So I stick to shoes, bags and belts in cherry tones!

Oh I love red and this has really inspired me to get me a red dress at some point!
I also love how your outfits all seem to compliment your shape so perfectly. That is a skill in itself :)

Oh and the River Island boots... get them. They are SO comfortable.

Ahh that is true, red has been put to one side completely, hopefully we will see more in the fall/winter collections. It is after all the colour of fire, passion, warmth etc.. You look absolutely lovely in your red dress I think it’s your colour!

Mmmh AND I Frankly think that carnal/bloody RED's (so fantastical) vibrancy is provided of such a Timeless Bewitchment Power, highly capable to set ablaze senses and imagination !!!

Red is definitely a great color for you. You look amazing in that dress! I love to use red as an accent. My favorite way to wear red: black dress with red heels, red clutch, and a little red scarf in my hair. :)

PS. Totally loving that tweed coat in your earlier post!

For someone who has just done up her room in red, yellow and gold, I give the color a big thumbs up. But yes, it is indeed a difficult hue to wear regularly. I'd keep it for special occasions. But then too, one must be ready for all the extra eyeballs that come your way. In that case, your take on it is great. Red for accessories just about does it right. Great blog, and you look stunning in red.

Hi there-you look gorgeous in this red outfit, I love it, but I don't have any plain pieces in red. I'll be using my red Chanel bag in summer though!

Red Chanel handbag, mmh? Nice one!

I don't really think any color is every out of style... fashion trends shouldn't dictate what people wear... I think seeing you in red in the midst of pastels for SS10 would make you a lot more special than the droves of girls who all end up wearing the same thing! My friend is obsessed with red (but maybe it's because she's Russian...) and I have a few pieces, thought it's not always a color I feel like wearing. I need to be in the proper mood...

I love flashes of it although it is not a great color againsy my complexion. The Laboutin with the red heel... a red patent flat of boot... a handbag, scarf...

Ahh, you look fabulous wearing red on red! I've never tried combining red separates before, I definitely should try it out one day! I do love the occasional red dress for added glamour though:)

I love red, so bold and perfect! Ahh and yes I don't think it quite fits with the S/S collection! I think red like this is one of those special event colors or more for the winter where it can stand out better (after all bold red looks far better in the snowy streets rather than a sunny orchard). Otherwise I do love it in accessories, and nail polish colors!

Extrordinary! I have to say that I was such a chicken when it came to color "red" for a very very VERY long time. I think it came out of fear of not being able to withstand an inevitable attention. It is apperant to me now that only very strong lady can handle being the centre of attention. Slowly I started to incorporate "red" details into my wardrobe and came to the conclusion that I do not feel scared of Red any more. So much so that I decided to wear all red gown to the Fall Party at Metrapolitan Opera. Pictures are to come. :-) Wishing you wonderful weekend dear Sabine :-)
