Bye Bye Baby

It's a bit weird, but since I've started blogging my expenses have decreased considerably. With all the picture taking, writing and communicating I just don't seem to have any time for shopping (not even online shopping because, hey, there is always a new blog to check out first!).

But it can’t go on like this any longer. Look at my poor boots! Thing is, I might be fussing about my
Givenchys, but the shoes that carried me sturdily through the last two winters are a pair of black topshop ankle boots. Somehow they have the perfect heel height to still be comfortable even if worn the whole day (around 8cm/ 3 inches) and they go with pretty much anything. But now they're falling apart. (Stupid me, I should have bought at least two pairs).

Before I go hunting for a new pair of favourite booties, tell me: What are your dream boots for this year? Do you have any recommendations for me?

boots: topshop

Sabine - we're boot twins! I was wearing those beauties yesterday.
Not sure about recommendations, I see, I fall in love, I buy.

I only have two pairs of booties, both of which I never wear. I'm so generic and boring when it comes to style, I cringe. I'm a jeans and cowboy boots wearer, but I wish to be bolder and braver.

Vintage Vixen - That's so cool! And I think I'll do it your style: See. Love. Buy!

Angie - Jeans and cowboy boots doesn't sound boring to me!

My favorite pair of booties is also really cheap and all scuffed-up, but they're so comfortable and seriously everywhere i go i get compliments! I swear when i was in London last fall, 3 girls in the Topshop store alone stopped me to ask me where they were from! I'll be so sad when i no longer have them... i actually brought them to the shoemaker the other day to get them resoled only to have him scold me on not taking care of my stuff. Pff!

As for recommendations, well i'm sure you'll be able to find a good replacement at its point of origin: Topshop! Although, i would seriously shop around a Cos and at Reiss (seeing as you are a Brit and have access to both those amazing shops... ahhh to be european!).

Thank you for visiting my blog and for your lovely comment :) xx

Thank you Helene for your ideas and tips. Topshop only has platform boots now, which look great but are rather tough to walk in. Will put Cos and Reiss on my list!

I really love a pair of cut out wedge booties at Anthropologie, but they're almost 200 dollars and I can't really justify that, no matter how I try. I tried them on at the store and they're so comfortable and I can imagine them going with so many outfits. Sigh. I think I'll be sticking to my riding boots and oxfords this year.

My dream booties... Golden Goose all the way!

I've been searching (hi & lo) for a pair of riding boots that fit around my wide calves. But now, that I'm losing weight, I may have to wait to find the perfect pair.

Cafe Fashionista said...

All things Frye are my dream boots. I find that they are quite sturdy whilst still maintaining beauty and sophistication. Riding boots are my absolute favorite - in a cognac color, of course!! :)

Isn't it great that you are not shopping anymore? But yes, I guess you need a new boots. I've been looking at those by Jeffrey Campbell. Or check out Topshop or Urban Outfitters. xoxo

Listening to you I am coming to the conclusion that I need at least 2 pair of boots - riding and ankle. Shopping, here we come!

RIP booties!
I agree with you less spending since I start blogging as well...either that or knowing too many people losing their jobs due to the dreadful recession...
I'm still dreaming of my own Margiela boots though!

thanks for the comment! and you're so right about Quentin! that's why his taste of music is awesome, too =D
anyway, i love Topshop boots. but sometimes the label doesn't come cheap =/

I really like Jeffrey Campbell shoes at the moment. They all seem to have platforms which is great; I have learned from my past experience that if a shoe is high it has to have a platform or at least a chunky heel. The photos from your previous post are Parisian perfection by the way x

I love the shape of these boots and they definitely seem very now. If I were you, I would definitely hunt down a similar shaped boot cos they are COOL.

I wish I could say I don't have time for shopping through all my blogging etc. but I always seem to find myself in town sifting through rails and rails of gorgeous clothes! It's getting bad now. I tthink I should stop.

I do agree with you I barely shop anymore, I guess it stems from the fact that I want to explore new possibilities for the pieces I already have for outfit posts. Even if I check out stores on the web now it's more for inspiration.

My dream boots right now are a pair of LD Tuttle Fall boots for 2010-- they are sleek over the knee boots that are actually flat and comfy to wear during the day... Now to save up so I can actually afford a pair. Sigh.

I love those boots! And I know what you mean... I need to retire my boots at the end of the season *sigh* now I have to buy more ones (which is both good and bad)

Vinda Sonata said...

same here, Sabine. i've decreased my expenses too because of blogging, which was kind of unbelieveable at first!
my dream boots remain the burberry combat boots. for second choice, i'd go for the leopard wedges by ashish for topshop!

p.s. of course, let's exchange links! will now add you to my blogroll :)

my poor motorcycle boots that I have had for years and years have are pretty much done for....so I think a new pair of short harness boots would be perfect for me and maybe in a brown color instead of black...not sure yet....xoxo

My favorite pair of boots is this black leather one that my dad got for me on my last trip to Agra. What an amusing observation : your blogging has helped you save money. All the more reason for you to splurge on a crazy pair.

And yes, I have added your link to my Blog roll.

I love love love that you are posting about this! I just went to DSW and almost bought a pair of booties but then put them down at the last minute because they weren't PERFECT like the ones I want. I know it sounds crazy but I want black ones so that they will make my legs look longer with leggings. I am looking everywhere!
