The Eye

It's strange, but since I've taken up photography again I am noticing quite a change in how I see things. 'Thinking photography' lets me see my environment as a constant stream of possible pictures - colours, arrangements, backgrounds… A rusty thrown-away tin might have a special shade of red, an old twig lying around a beautiful shape (and some antlers just have to become my new hat).

What about you? Has blogging changed the way you see things?

Love these detail shots... you really have the eye. And not all who handles a camera has got the eye, believe me.

Have a great day! xoxo

I know exactly what you mean! I took up blogging because I wanted to document and share the small, sometimes insignificant details of day-to-day living. It helped me to appreciate all the small things that I often take for granted. Now, everything I do, even if it's just going to the local market can be inspiration for blog fodder. I've also picked up photography. I am by no means any good at it, but it still brings me joy and I love seeing the world through the camera lens.

Blogging has definitely changed the way I think, instead of thinking 'oh, that's pretty' I think 'Must. blog. now'.

It's strange!

I like the way your mom thinks - very cool about the spiderwebs - they are beautiful!

I must confess...blogging has changed the way I see things. Sometimes I'll be out shopping, or see a look or trend on the street, and I'm like...I need to blog about that! I beleive that blogging has given me more acceptance to differing opinions and outlooks.

Love these pieces and photographs by the way!! :)

Blogging has really changed my thinking also. Every time I make something special or taking pics with my SLR, all I'm thinking is, good post for the blog!! LOL

You are right Sabine, blogging really changes the way you see things because its a sort of a challencge between you and your camera. You always try to get the best pictures. You cannot submit everything so it develops your critical eye toward your work, in order to capture and publish the best pictures you took; because you know that this is what the people will judge you on! :) Anyway I love your little pieces they are cute, I wish I had a house to decorate it like you :)

oh thank you for the support! I am at Madeira now and everything is fine!
I really like your pictures (and you're right, spiderwebs are great to take some shots, ad with waterdrops even better!)

Blogging definately puts a new perspective on the way I see things. I've come to realise by looking at photos of myself that I look better in colour and it certainly makes me consider the arrangement of pictures and ornaments in my home when I photograph them.
Your pictures are absolutely wonderful, the textures and shapes are breathtaking. You obviously inherited your Mum's artistic talents.

I definitely see things with a more 'artistic' eye... I say 'artistic' because I don't think of myself as an artist in any sense of the word, and I don't know much about art... but sometimes, the way the light floods my bedroom or the way my daffodils are beginning to flower inspires me to write something, or say something, or do something.

your photographs are just lovely!

and having an artist's eye means you see the world in a whole new way. and that is just rad. i love finding "ugly" stuff that is just beautiful. :)

And here I am again, Sabine ;)

Oh yes, definitely.. you always watch "closer to details" and to capture a special moment! And YOUU do your photos always with a touch of "artists" which I love very much!!!

Gute Nacht und wunderschöne Träume!

I took a photography class a few years ago and got into the habit of carrying my camera. I did see things diffrerently, especially the light.

Oh and yes, in reference to your comment...you're not wrong, Toast's clothes are really expensive. I love flipping through the catalog, but can't imagine actually purchasing very much from there. Usually I just get ideas there and then go off to thrift stores with those in mind.

I love this post for so many reasons. It's so true that our "eye" changes and matures and sees things differently. I not only love how you photographed but also what you photographed. Beautiful.

Blogging's definitely changed the way I "play" around on the internet. I'm constantly saving and bookmarking so I can share, when before I probably would have let a lot of great things slip away from me "because I couldn't buy it."

Beautiful photos!

An artist friend of mine refers to having "art eyes", a subtle shift in the way you see the world, suddenly light, colours, shapes and patterns are jumping out at you when before you would have missed them.

I always enjoyed taking pictures, but since my blog came along it has almost taken over.. Is it like that for you too? In a way it is good, because I see more than I thougt was possible, but in another way I don't get the whole picture, because I am so absorbed by the details.

I really like your close up pictures in this post, very yummy. :-)
