La Fille Noire

Spring might be all about candy colours but when it comes to dressing we’ll never really get away from black. Black is simple, black is mysterious, black goes with anything, black is slimming…
In winter we’ll all be back to black anyway, since after a lot of colourful spring/summer collections most designers have turned to a restrained palette of beige/camel and black for autumn/winter. I absolutely adored Stefano Pilati’s ‘sexy nuns’ for
Yves Saint Laurent . Yes, it might have looked a bit like he’d raided the wardrobe of a bishop, but high waists and high necklines made for restrained, elegant, but still very sensual clothes. Since I sadly don’t own anything YSL my new Sonia Rykiel for H&M jumpsuit had to do for my ‘fille noire’.
Personally I quite like black in summer (especially with tanned skin) (Although the pictures are far away from both). What about you?

jacket: mango, playsuit: sonia rykiel for h&m, shoes: bally

This post speaks to me because, although I love Spring, I seriously have a weakness for black clothes. I think it's because of my coloring but black just looks good on me. Your jumpsuit is perfect for this, YSL or not.

Wow! That jumpsuit is amazing, Sabine - and you wear it so well! I cannot imagine anyone looking as fabulous as you in this piece! Regardless of it being spring, I still rock black sometimes - it's a color I simply can't resist!! :)

Happy you like it, Lenore. I wanted to title the post 'Sexy Nuns' but then worried I might attract the wrong readership (although maybe any readers are good readers)...

You look great in black and I agree with you, black is for anytime, anywhere... whatever the season.

I love black so much but the sweltering heat here in the tropics prevents me from wearing too much black.

Have a great day! xoxo

The majority of my wardrobe is black. I only get tempted to add some color in the beginning of spring but I always go back to black. Especially in the summer with a tan. That's when it looks best :)

Hi there-thanks for your lovely comment, I'm East London, maybe not too far from you-where in South East London are you? I'm lucky there are a few towns so nearby with charity shops and boot sales are ever so popular too round my area in season.

I love your outfit, black is ever so stylish in Summer I agree. I saw a long black dress in my local charity shop, did debate whether to get it or not!!

Love the black jumpsuit. I love black too, for all seasons. I went to a wedding NYC last year and the dress I wanted to wear was black. I asked a New Yorker friend whether black was OK to wear to a summer wedding and she said, 'Black is OK in New York anytime.'

Which I thought was ace, and have lived by ever since!

And right she is, I'd say, Caroline.

Sharon Rose - It's more South East, outside London. That's why I can integrate so many trees into my pictures.

That jumpsuit is perfection itself. It looks amazing on you.
You're right, black against lightly tanned skin looks understated and elegant and fabulous on a sunny day (if we ever have one).

Nothing like black right :) love how it could be worn with absolutely anything :) really interesting ! what you have worn is :))

I'd wear black anytime, anywhere. I don't restrict colors to seasons- of course, the only season here is summer, which makes dressing easier, although it does get boring...

I really like this outfit. And your photography- wow! :)

Very cool photos- I love the gate you are standing in front of.

I completely agree with you about black -- it's the one color that never goes out of season. I have red hair and fair skin so black always complements them. I've also discovered that I look awful in pastels. I need rich, saturated colors.

I too love black in the summer, with a tan and brown leather accessories. I saw a black cotton maxi dress in H&M today - may have to go pick it up soon! :)

Ha, that is so funny, I just bought this jumpsuit yesterday. I love it, but I am stressing out that it may be too warm for spring already, and I have not yet figured out what to wear on top. :-) Sandra

You make it look so elegant! I'm personally for colors, etc, especially white! But I have such a tendency to overheat that black just facilitates that process, especially in the summer!

I love all black summer outfits, especially with gladiator sandals and exotic jewellery, there's something quite sophisticated about the look.

I always love black and I never, ever get tired of jumpsuits! I haven't really checked out the Sonia for H&M line, but maybe I should... you look fabulous in your outfit!

Ooh I absolutely love that jumpsuit, I wanted to get it but I'm a bit too short.

I usually steer away from black in summer, but it is just such a sexy colour. I need to try all-black, it'll be a first!

I have an endless supply of black in my wardobe. Though I love colors, there's nothing like my trusty and versatile black pieces. You look awesome in that jumpsuit! Great shots at the gate. Do you take these with a tripod?

I love everything about this post. You look spectacular, the photos are phenomenal, black is my all time favorite color, and I have a biker jacket I wear all the time. Now I gotta go check out those sexy nuns!

i completely agree about the black.

re your comment on my post. thank you. i've been having a very dark last few days... those days where you feel like a black cloud is living inside your head and you're so exhausted from all the emotions running through your heart. ever get those? i find doing some of my posts almost therapeutic in a way.. it let's me focus on something and makes me feel like i've accomplished something... anyway don't want to get sappy here, but your comments always feel really genuine and make me feel good Sabine. So i wanted to say THANK YOU.
