Clogs – Do We Really Want Them?

First I was all excited about clogs. They remind me of my childhood, running around in old wooden heels, channelling Pippi Longstockings… But then I realised that clogs are actually not that different from my default summer shoes… Maybe I’ll just stick to my old Scholls…

Will you be wearing clogs this summer?

I have to go with no. I think they're unflattering AND uncomfortable. Resisting the trend!

Mmmh so Actually the "Fetishist who slightly slumbers on me" widely shares your circumspection about their (potential) "Fetish Appeal", AND to be totally Honest these shoes remind me a "Uggs" 's summery Revival !!! Just like a "Fetish sacrilege" . . .

must admit that i never picked up on the clogs trend! but thats mostly because i love buying things that i can twist easily down the track :)

haha probably! i'm a sucker for insanely tall shoes. and nop! Not 6 foot - but even if i were, i'd still wear tall heels :) xx

@ Ioana L. - I don't know... maybe it's just the childhood memories that make them endearing to me.

@ Stilettostetico - Sure. I bet there is a secret fetishist slumbering in all of us; and why not 'sacrilege' it with a bit of a cluncky shoe?

I have a love hate relationship with Clogs... Don't even know where to begin... Let's see.... Scholls remind me of Germans on holiday, actually, German women run around in Clogs from May thru October. I tend to wear them around the house and for watering the plants and flowers in my garden during the warmer months.

Perhaps you can introduce me to some wonderfully fashionable clogs? ;-)

I won´t be wearing them. I think that most of the times they look ugly on the feet.

Not a fan of clogs at all. I think for me the connotation is too much in line with country bumpkin? But if you grew up wearing them, I can understand how the nostalgia aspect would change it. I do have a pair of Scholls somewhere though!

The last picture here is so sweet and I like your shoes. I don't have any clogs myself but I think they can be good if you find the right ones.

I think it depends on the style of the clog and how it is styled.

Wooden clogs remind me of my grand-mother walking about early in the mornings when I was visiting as a kid, aaarhh! no thank you!
But also, I don't find the many different high heeled versions too aesthetically pleasing, what's gotten into people! Yours remind me of my birkenstocks, nothing wrong with them, for me they're a good hanging out shoe.

No, no, no, no! After all your comments I'm never going to wear them again - EVER (apart from taking out the bin, maybe).

Lovely pictures! I am liking the clogs trend at the moment, but the price tag is a bit too expensive for me at the moment...Unless I win the lottery..!

Thank you for your blog comment, I shall indeed sharing (hopefully) my London stories!=)

i don't know. never had the chance to try some on (i guess the ones i used to wear when i was 5 years old don't count). but i think the only ones i was really tempted to try on are those by chanel. they look beautiful - on long thin legs ;)

Sniff said...

Well, I love the Miu Miu Daisy print floral clogs that I have blogged about a couple of weeks ago, but I really don't think I'll be getting them. When buying super expensive shoes, I prefer more classic styles that don't go out of fashion so easily.

I'll be looking for some sandals with wooden heels, though.

Whenever I see Alexa Chung wearing them I can't help but to think...YES! I desperately want them! :)

dada-esque is the same as i though, i think that's probably the main reason why i was drawn to his work.

hey i guess not buying into clogs save the pennies!

I agree that the Dr.Scholl are actually less worse than the Chanel.... I hate Karl for doing this (well, as usual), it's the most stupid idea ever...
Also Viktor&Rolf did it in a great way way sooner !

i wouldn't wear them, but i like them on other people!

Arushi Khosla (FabBlab) said...

Eh, clogs are a passing fad if you ask me. There's nothing chic about them. Sure, Chanel did it pretty well. But Karl Lagerfeld could make scrubs look rad, so that's not saying much.

I have been resisting the clog thing all of my adult life. They are noisy when you walk, and uncomfortable too. But now I just may be warming up to the idea. I like the nostalgia of them too. Noisy and red leather covered clogs. Sandra, 6 years again. :-)

I'm definitely not on the clog bandwagon. Its just not my thing. I like your sandals though!

Ugh, clogs! NO!! I had a pair when I was about 7, fell off them and twisted my ankle. Never again!

... although Topshop DO have some lovely ones. NO! Stop it! Bad clogs!

I love the clogs! I love Dr Scholls too. I have some wooden soled platform strappy shoes that are very similar to clogs so I'm sticking to those and not investing, though. I'd love some Swedish Hasbeens, though.

I don't think i'll be wearing clogs, i like them but not enough to buy some, i'd rather keep living in my Birkenstocks

I don't think I can do the clog thing this time around - however I see them in pics and they do look beautiful on some people. P.S. I used to wear Dr. Scholls all the time! They tone your legs (according to the old ads) (-:
