Get Sporty

You know I love blogging and I want to post and communicate with you as much as possible; which means I am spending a lot of time at the computer. Then there is a job (ah money, why doesn’t it rain from the sky?!?) and a family (not a huge one, but I’ve got to show my face from time to time) and trying to sleep a few hours now and then… Well, that’s pretty much all I can fit into a 24 hour day.

I once said I play tennis A LOT, about 5 times a week, but somehow this activity got lost on the wayside (an exceptionally cold winter and having felt slightly under the weather for weeks hasn’t helped). But I’ve made a decision! I can’t keep just frowning at my diminishing muscle tonus and wincing because of backpain… No, I’ve got to get moving again! See how enthusiastically I’m jumping towards the court?

How do you do it? Is the computer eating you up or do you manage to do a regular work-out? (Yes, Tiffany, I know you do, you are my hero!) And if yes, what kind of sports do you go for?

top: topshop, pants: adidas (cut-offs), shoes: adidas originals, racket: vintage lacoste

Sure! Walking is very important. When I trained as a physiotherapist our osteopathy teacher always said: 'We are made for walking!' (Definitely better than sitting!)

Beautiful photos!!! I am useless at tennis, unfortunately. However, I really love the gym. It's "me" time. And I tap dance. Random, yes. But I've been doing it my whole life and it's just...my very random talent!
I would love to exchange links!
ps I am a writer when I'm not blogging, so literally half my day is spent at the computer. Ah well.

Those are really cool photos! Love the colours in them... and the Lacoste racket! Being in Paris I can't do all the sport I would like to but I go for tennis and swimming... But what I've always loved is dance!

Thanks for the shout out! It's so funny because this week has been so HARD to be motivated but I know that if I stop my body wont want to start again.

By the way, I love tennis so much but I never look as chic as you. Very inspiring- maybe I'll take a trip to Lacoste this weekend.

you look amazing! and it makes sense that you play tennis -- you look fab and have great muscle tone!

it is SO HARD to find a balance in life: working, blogging, entertainment, exercise, rest, relaxation. i struggle with this and SADLY exercise is usually the easiest thing to put off. i must remedy that. MUST.

You look so cute and sporty! Is that a vintage lacoste tennis racquet cover? I've played tennis since I was 8 and actually went to a few state championships, but as of late I looooove kickboxing! Balance when it comes to anything is so hard to achieve!!!

I know what you mean about the computer time... aside from blogging, I spend part of my day in front of the computer editing clients' photos so you see, it's my little world. Then I have to go out and meet clients and do errands. Good thing I have a home office so I get to see my kids a lot.

The downside is the fitness routine... I tend to forget about it. But I made a pact with myself not to touch my computer unless I am done with my morning run. And I'm doing it.

Great that you decided to renew your pact with tennis... go do it girl. xoxo

ooh what lovely photos :) yes, blogging does take an enormous amount of effort & it consumes a lot of time, so i try to post around three times a week! i don't exercise, at all, because my metabolism is amazing, although i walk home from school everyday so i guess that's my form of exercise! it's great of you to start tennis again :) enjoy your weekend ♥

I've rediscovered jogging. I absolutely love my daily routine of getting back from work, no matter if it be at 6:30 or 8, and slipping into my sport gear and heading out for a refreshing 20-30-minute spurt. After that I'm ready to spend a good night... unwound and relaxed.

If I'll be wearing clogs... still trying to make up my mind. Stay tuned;)

You definitely keep have to do the activities you love! I used to do boxing, but gave it up becausae of a hurt ankle. My ankle is more than recovered now, but I'm far too lazy to go back. I really need to though.

I'm not a sporty person but I do love playing volleyball...

First off, the top image could be a Lacoste ad! I try to get a work out in at least 3x a week, and as soon as it gets a bit warmer here, I am vowing to learn to play tennis, as every single one of my friends plays except for me!

Cafe Fashionista said...

So yes, the computer is definitely eating me up. But...I still make sure to do a regular workout. I do 40 minutes of cardio three days a week. It keeps me toned and feeling amazing!! :)

You look great in your tennis outfit! I used to play tennis in highschool just for fun but I stopped because my arms were so sore afterwards. I work out on the weekends and I run about 2 times a week. I love working out! xoxoxoxoxoo

SabinePsynopsis said...

Heeellooo - I'm back. Still haven't played tennis, but did some lawn mowing (yawn, but good for arm muscles) and shopping (heavy work-out!!)
I'm really impressed how many of you are into tennis. Yes, Zhush, you should give it a try - it's so much fun! (if the joints take it). Many of you do jogging, which I find really hard. Kick-boxing... yay! A friend of mine LOVES it - I think I want to give it a try, too. Yoga is always good, stretching is so important, especially when we get older [sigh]. xxx

I really don't work out, like, never, but I am thinking of changing that! probably will start running around down at the beach when I find some company!
ps: you look so cute in a tennis outfit :)

Thanks for your visit! I love these photos. Thumbs up, I never work out! I want to but I'm very lazy and I can't find the time (the only thing that is keeping me in shape a little bit is some daily sexercize)Your blog looks so cool, will follow!

Hi Sabine...I love these photos!! They're so atmospheric and really rather inspiring. I don't play tennis but these pics make me want to play! so I hope they inspire you to get courtside asap...!!
...however, for someone who hasn't exercised much, you have a killer body! Great legs!! Love your shape!

I am a journalist, which requires a lot of high octane sitting down, typing away!! Very easy to just let everything else go. I also have children but they're older now so I have more 'me' time.

I'm not a gym goer, we do have gym equipment at home, boxing bag, pads, etc so I train when I can but need to be motivated to do this! My husband brushes us all up in Budokan once in a while and I spar with him.

I attend Bikram yoga class at least 5 times a week. This is my 'main' tune in/tune up.
Am also a Flamenco and Taiko student. These 2 are major workouts! To mix it up, I attend boxing classes at a real boxers gym every so often. No music, no polite jabs, it's hard core and it defines everything! Plus you develop grace in movement. Have also started doing pole gymnastics (killer!) and in summer we waterski and snowski in winter.

Wow. Writing that all down seems a lot...no wonder my middle aged body feels it sometimes...! I like being active, need to be and most importantly, I love to eat and nothing is going to stop me from enjoying one of life's pleasures. I am vain though and don't want to pay the price for loving food!

I'm sorry but skinny will never feel as good as food tastes... :) so... burn those calories!!

eek. sorry this is so long!

There is such strength to this set. It radiates passion for the sport of tennis, yet retains a soft edge, too. Marvelous work all around!

Thank you dearly for finding Chronically Vintage and sharing your thoughts with me, I appreciate your visit so much.

Wishing you a marvelous Sunday!

Absolutely CC! ... and I finally managed to get my tired body to the court today.

Dusk - I'm totally impressed by your work-out regime (no idea what Budokan is). It's not that I haven't excercised much in my life - I used to work as an ashtanga yoga teacher - but lately I have become rather lazy physically.

Sunaina - Sexercise? Very, very important, I'd say! Thanks for following.

p.s.: you look SO MUCH BETTER than average sharapova etc. besides !!!

I love tennis, but I suck at it! I'm not much for sports, but do manage to fit in Pilates, yoga and hiking...although lately I admit to having a erratic workout schedule, blamed on our upcoming overseas move.

Cool photos- I like the soft coloring and lighting.

I'm constantly running around all day, when I have free moments I try to sleep. I can't be bothered to work out. Plus it's hard enough to find clothes that fit me, if I got any skinner it would be impossible.

Angie Muresan said...

I am self employed, which really gives me the freedom to make my own schedule. Because I love to eat, I absolutely MUST exercise on a daily basis. I wake up extra early to go to a bootcamp class and during my lunch hour go to a yoga session. Hiking, tennis, dancing are weekend indulgences, as are chocolates and cakes.

Maddy said...

Ahhh!! I just wrote this long comment & it vanished :( Well, the gist of it was this: I blog Mon-Friday during the day (mostly work hours). That leaves my weekends and evenings free for actual "living" (i.e. exercising, going out, enjoying the sun) and spending QT with my hubby and family.

THE ALTERNATIVE WIFE said...

I find it nearly impossible unfortunately. But I have to get myself in gear and start working out. Time to start peeling out from under all the layers of clothes :)

Sniff said...

I've taken up Gyrotonics, a machine based way of training that is built upon moves from yoga. Also, I swim regularly and now that spring is here, I've got my bike all ready for trips when the sun's out. After being really knocked out by the cancer treatment, all my muscles have disappeard and I feel like a heap of shivering jelly, so I guess it's time to leave the computer long enough to really work up some sweat again several times a week.
