Is Acne Giving You Acne?

Psynopsis Acne Denim Jeans

Psynopsis Acne Denim Label
When you hear 'Acne' do you think 'cool'? The label is definitely worn by some pretty cool people... You rarely see Susie Bubble without her black Acne wedges and Garance Doré totally treasures her Acne sweater dress. But not all fashion connaisseurs treasure the Swedish label. Liberty London Girl for example did not like the a/w 2010 collection and when visiting the studio in Copenhagen she felt herself in the midst of an assembly of 'monosyllabic poseurs'.

Is there something slightly contrived about Jonny Johansson's (Acne’s founder and creative director) label (which was originally dedicated to furniture design)? He certainly must have liaised with an extremely able PR company to make Acne the epitome of hip, with jeans prices comparable to J Brand, Superfine and 7 for all Mankind and never a bad word from style.com… (at least I couldn't find any negative reviews). I got my first (and only) Acne jeans in Berlin, when Acne still featured the 'non-label' style and even though I'm still waiting for the day to finally wear my
peacock dress I thought the
autumn/winter collection - featuring jumpsuits, skintight trousers and leggings, t-shirt and mini dresses, harem trousers and shearling – is (perhaps not very affordable), but cool enough for me.

You are so welcome, Dancing Branflake.

rossovelvet - le? Is this a very short version of 'love' or something completely different?

Thank you for your comment on my blog (ps. I'll answer to you here too, just in case: yes, my roommate got money to burn :D) !

I've always looked for the right pair of Acne but I never managed to find the colour/fitting I was looking for at the moment...I think I'm gonna try again this week cause I really need a pair of new jeans and I'm going to a shop which sells them!

BTW: I love your blog, new follower!

I absolutely love them. I only have one dress by them but would love a grey sweater dress like Garance's. And pretty much everything else they produce! It could be my uniform - draped shapes, muted colours, gorge fabrics. LOVE.

Realy love that, and i love your blog!
maybe we can follow and link each?

I like the jeans but I think the name is gross (who wants to be reminded of pimples when squeezing into their trousers?!) Whatever toots their hoot though, I guess. They look like they make some pretty awesome jeans, and I'm tempted to get me a pair one day!

The only thing Acne I own is a pair of Push boots. I've never actually tried on any of their clothes. But that's just coincidence. Might have to check out one of their stores the next time I'm looking for something in particular.

I dont really know much about acne, Im not even sure we have it in Australia, but I would probably think it was cool but never buy anything, as I tend to shy away from cool but overpriced fashion :)

i'm not quite sure whether or not we have acne, here in australia. . . russh magazine does have a few acne pieces each issue, but i'm not too sure! i liked the title though :) have a lovely weekend!

I would love to see the PR planning behind the Acne brand- I'm sure it's genius. Still, they have a good product as well. I like their modern minimalist feel!

i don't understand why the hype around acne started only now since they're on the scene for quite a while. but i love them, too! also have one of their sweater dresses and that gorgeous bow belt and everyone asks where they're from (and have no clue what i'm talking about when they hear it's from "acne" ) :D and now i'm just trying to order 2 more items from their website but they re-launched it and i can't access any category :( (but their customer service is really friendly and fast). oh my, am very talkative today. sorry for leaving such a long story. but if you haven't yet - check their website out (when it's running properly)!

I should probably try this brand afterall. I have heard of them but didn't really get to buy anything as of yet!I should also rethink my "no jeans" policy too. :-))) I am wishing you wonderful weekend Sabine.:-)

I have not heard of this brand before but I am amazed by the name of it! I must check this out. I think it could be cool. Sabine, do you have an email address that I can contact you at? because I am considering making my blog by reader invite only and the way to do this is by using email addresses? Not sure but just a thought I have had.

I love the brand, but I can't say that it's something I buy often - it's a bit out of my budget! :)

Bardot in Blue said...

I never understood what it is called Acne...the overall whole look is not for me but I do find a piece from time to time that I think is just borderline genious.

I live above the Acne Showroom in Paris and I am little bit everytime they have a party and don't invite me! >:-/

What an interesting post! I have mixed feelings about ACNE. Their jeans fit me horribly, I love their shoes, and I actually think what they've done with their manufacturing and pr is amazing. It's not 100% my taste, and certainly not in my price range, but I know a lot of people who are in love with the brand.

I like Acne. The shoes are just cool. There is no other way around it. Everything is def beyond my budget, and if I had the money lying around to buy Acne, I could see myself going for something less edgy.

I love their dresses soo much! And I've been itching to try a pair of their jeans!

I'm glad you like the brand =) I suppose at the end of the day it all comes down to your own opinion rather than someone else's.
