Creepy Crawlies & Immobile Models

I hate flowers - I paint them because they're cheaper than models and they don't move. Georgia O’Keeffe
Psynopsis Giles Spider Dress
The other day I found this picture on my camera. 'Great dress!' I cried, 'did you shoot this?' 'Yeap, I liked the spiders,' says husband. Naturally, he has no idea who the dress is by, actually, as he points out, he couldn't care less. Oh Boy(s)!

I'm quite intrigued by this dress and would really like to know who designed it. I stumbled across it once, but now I can’t remember where or by whom it was. Googling 'black widow dress' or 'spider dress' I get 1001 pictures of Michelle Obama wearing the black and red Narciso Rodriguez dress at election night (highly controversial, it seems) and, naturally, a lot of Halloween suggestions. So my question - Do you know who designed this dress?

Personally I don’t hate flowers at all (and somehow I don’t believe Mrs O'Keeffe did either because she would have been a real masochist to continuously draw things she hated). Flowers are great models indeed and I photograph them a lot, but normally I don’t find the pictures interesting enough to share. Today is different because the colour of thess tulips match the colour of the dress so wonderfully. Thank you flowers for being such patient models!

Aah creeps! I am so scared of spiders lol. I would get a heart attach each time I looked down haha! Sorry, but cant help you with the name... have tried net-a-porter and those kind of websites? The tulips by the way are baeutiful... a dress with them as a print would be preferable for me :)

SabinePsynopsis said...

Yes, I guess this design is not for everyone... big fat pink tulips though, that's a great idea! I did check net-a-porter, but what can I look for? Spider dress?

This dress is quite something. It took me awhile to work out that it was spiders on it though. I like the contrast of the spiders with the pink and girly colours.

I happen to agree with Ms. O'Keeffe: flowers are sooo much easier to photograph than models (i.e. my nephews!) and they look beautiful regardless!

Flowers are essential to the eyes. It just mean that the world is beautiful even if there are disasters that hinders us to see and appreciate their beauty.

Dear Sabine, the dress is amazing! It is also the only way I could possible tolerate spiders :-) I wish I could help you with the name of the designer for the dress, but I simply have no idea! The print is unique, not something you see every day. I could not believe my eyes when I read the quote about flowers. How is it possible to hate them at all!? They are the ost complex creations of nature and an endless inspiration in design and textile production!I too think that she didn't really think that. :-) I am wishing you wonderful day and hoping you will be able to figure out the name of the designer who created this "spider" dress. :-)

I looved that Giles collection. Probably wouldn't do a whole dress of spiders but definitely an accessory to add some quirk to an outfit.
