The Waxing Question

Psynopsis Acne Peplum Denim Dress

Psynopsis Acne Peplum Denim Dress

It's partytime tonight. Painted the nails, put the fake tan on, got my legs waxed… Talking of which, friends keep telling me what a blessing laser is; but it's soooo expensive! Once I did the maths and figured that I can get around 200 waxings for the price of a full laser treatment. At one waxing a month that’s quite some years! What about you? Are you 'lasered' or still old fashioned like me?

Aaanyway, back to scrubbing up… Unwanted hair is gone, teeth are clean. Now comes the dress question. It’s a terrace party in London, a bit posh, the weather is lovely – Could this be the night for the denim Acne dress I
bought ages ago? It still feels a bit funny, but I think it’s now or never! Lets see how it goes.

Happy weekend!

definitely wear that dress! it's so gorgeous, the texture and design is so utterly perfect :) you look beautiful! hmmm... i still shave, i'm even more old-fashioned, but i really should try waxing! apparently laser can actually cause cancer, because the radiation can kill certain cells that are vital for survival, so i'd stick to waxing if i were you, but that's just me! have a lovely weekend ♥ ps. just posted my picture #10 challenge!

Oh I am so glad to see Acne on you! Love this Swedish brand they do so beautiful clothes. Or maybe I am just being patriotic. But you look great and you should definitely go with that. I would love to see how you accessorize it! When it comes to waxing. I did some laser to but not on my legs. Instead arms, bikini, armpits etc. Only because my skin os so sensitive and that I have so much air so it took me ages to do anything with it. I cant use wax on my legs either cause the hair always grows under my skin and makes me look dotty. But couldnt afford lasering that too. Anyway. After I've been painfully going through those therapies I must say it wasnt worht it. It barely removed any hair and so I paid a big amount of money for basically nothing... :(

thanks a lot!!!

I tried to get laser a couple of years ago, but ir was a waste of money cause it didn´t work, and I know a few other people with the same problem. Maybe we were just unlucky and we didn´t go to the right places, but I won´t try it again until I know for sure it works...

have a great weekend

very pretty dress
i use hair removal but i do want to get laser, the only thing is that they say you have to get it 4to 6 times for the hair not to grow back, that seems like a lot of money and pain but i'm thinking about

Hi there!! Beautiful dress, hope you did wear it, looks lovely on! Wishing you a fabulous weekend, the weather is just so nice isn't it!!

I agree with the others above. Wear the Acne dress. Take some pictures for us so that we can see the finished look with your chosen accessories. I only have a bikini and underarm wax. The rest of my body is "Hair free". Am not sure about laser. Why remove something as natural as hair forever? Hair is apart of us as human beings. We can trim, wax and so forth, but these are not permanent. Unless someone is so bothered by hair and they have a Medical reason to remove it permanently. Am glad you are posting on Saturday, which is normally your "Blog free" day. I think you'll look great at this gathering tonight, even if the venue is quite Smart. Enjoy!;-)

Ooh I'm so jealous of your dress! Loooved it but it was a bit too pricey for me :( I actually loved the red version they had about a year ago the most, but the denim's gorgeous as well!

Sabine, you are going to rock this party! I love this dress, I love its perfect fit and the fact that it is solid in color.
Now, I do have a little secret to share. I do not torture myself with waxing, I do not spend money on laser treatments and I do not shave (please, do not fall of your chair). Instead, I use the best kept secret by gay community - magic shaving powder which can be bought in some drug stores here in the USA. It is not advertised product and that is why I call it the best kept secret.:-) It requires adding a bit of water to turn it into paste. Then you spread this paste over, let's say, your leg. One minute wait and hair simply fall out and you can take it all of with a special plastic thingie included with the powder. no pain, no suffering and your hair do not grow back for a very long time. The powder costs $4.50. :-)))

@ Anya from CMA - Magicc shaving powder? That sounds like the perfect solution. Will have to research that!

@ Fashion, Art & other Fancies - I do have to style it?? Oh dear! Will do my best and try to get a pic, too. And well observed, I've broken my rule (again) because I'm only coming back from London tomorrow evening.

That dress is really a winner! I don't even wax, I just shave, who's old fashioned now?

This Acne dress is stunning on you. I think i remember seeing it on the Acne website sometime ago.
Regarding laser treatment, i once thought about doing it and went for a consultation, but in the end i figured waxing just worked well & it would say me a lot of money too!
As for the weather in London, i am about to go for a little picnic as the weather is amazing this weekend.
Happy weekend & have a great time at the party tonight!

I'm loving that acne dress! You must wear it to the party. Personally, I still use a hand held razor...it is such a pain!

Do it now! I love it and I love that it is ACNE. And btw, I still shave. Talk about old school!

Leah said...

I'm old fashioned like you... and I agree that laser hair removal costs way too much.

That dress is lovely... I really love it.

Have a great weekend! xoxo

I have to say I'm still oldfashioned too :p But more importantly, wear that dress! it's a stunner on you. And have lots of fun! xx

Kazuko said...

why does it feel funny? i think it looks only too gorgeous! and you pull it off perfectly! did you see the latest collection of the lanvin/acne collaboration? anyways, love your dress!
as for the waxing dilemma - epilator is the only solution for me (at least for the legs). and after using it regularly for ages it doesn't hurt anymore. but the laser method is really popular here in dubai (hello hairy arabs) ;) feel like the only one who hasn't tried it.

And i say stick to waxing till results of laser are sure cause too many people had bad experiences.. that's not to say i don't want to try it though.

I shave my legs, but get waxed for...bikini area and such. Honestly, I don't think I would try laser - it just sounds scary to me. :/

Joanne Faith said...

I think the end result is very cute and well fitting to the event!

Waxing is too scary for me! I will probably opt for laser treatment when I cant afford it. The time saving is worth it.

Love love love love LOVE!! I read the original post too and I just love this dress.
I do understand about the stiffness though, I have a few denim dresses like this but I just washed them with fabric softener!!

eek. I'm still coming to terms with waxing, over a quarter century of hair removal later!!! I like the idea of lazer treatments but...hmmm...

that dress is gorgeous! i considered laser while living in korea. for full body it was the equivalent of 2000USD and that included all the treatments. cant beat that price. i decided against it though. im sure at some point i will regret turning down such a great price.

The dress is lovely, the shape is very flattering on you.

If waxing is old fashioned, I'm positively stone aged :P I'm definitely a shaving type of gal.

Heather said...

haha well I am more old fashioned and still shaving! I guess the good thing about laser is you dont have to go every month (or shave every 2 days!) :)

Yeah go for it - I really like the dress, personally. :)
I am definitely old-fashioned like you. Waxing, all the way. There's something about the fact that laser is just so permanent that I find off-putting...Like, there's no turning back.

I really don't believe that there's anything you could wear that wouldn't look hot. You rock everything you put on.

I got a laser hair removal years ago from my mom and sisters as a birthday present. I love it. In the US I could only get 20 professional leg waxes done for the price of permanent leg hair removal. And the spa threw in a treatment for my arms for free. Apparently they have all sorts of promotions.

Old fashioned, I simply don't have the money!
So go wax and Braun's machine!
Anyway, I love being tanned again... and yes, it's the party season !!
(Exam season too, but who cares!)

"Oldfashioned"?! What are people that shave, then? Napoleonic? And people that go without measures but with hair- Queens/Kings of the Stoneage???
