Styling, What Styling?

Oh look, I found a new friend! The day was such a scorcher that I was very tempted to just stay in my cosy jumpsuit. But after having made such a big huhaa about what to wear to the party and all your encouraging comments I felt committed. So, Acne dress it was!
It's so extremely stiff that it makes you feel like some 19th century lady strapped in a corset, but I guess that’s the charme of it. And I only felt a teeny weeny bit overdressed when I realised that the hostess was wearing jeans. Dressing down really seems to be recession flavour of the moment.

About the styling question… Phew, honestly, I'm not good at styling and accessorizing. I normally concentrate on the clothes and any jewellery apart from earrings feels alien to me. So it was Chloe shoes, selfmade clutch and a necklace. Does that get your approval? Oh dear, in the picture the buckle of the clutch has opened!

Et voilà, ready to go!

My new friend the elephant comes in herds these days in London. More about this tomorrow…

silk jumpsuit: topshop, shoes: scholls, sunglasses: exté

Mmh AND I sincerely approve this "Party Girl-esque" silhouette . . . because just like the famous "Little Black Dress" you can never go wrong with bare arms / shoulders Dear !!!

Not that you need our approval, I think you are a very confident girl, but I love your chic black. It's so nice against your skin colour and strong shoulders. Would love to hear more about that selfmade clutch... Can't see much of the shoes, but I'm sure it's lovely. One is never overdressed in a little black dress, dear;-)

What a lovely compliment you paid your hostess! It is always nice to know that your guests honour your invitation enough to dress up...and didn't you do it well! You can wear that outfit to my place anytime. Thank you for calling in, at present though, you comment seems to have done a disappearing act. Hopefully it will soon appear as it was a very nice one!

Oh honey you look AMAZING!!! The dress was made for you and great choice on shoes & clutch. I bet you were the belle of the ball :)

Can't wait to hear more about the elephants! xoxo

You look very beautiful in this outfit!

I have to admit, enjoy the laid back vibe at parties these days. Don't get me wrong, I love the occassional excuse to dress up. But when you're bombarded with tons of wedding, bridal shower, baby shower, graduation invitations like me, the whole thing can get a bit expensive at times.

But you, my dear, look like a knockout with this outfit! By the way, what you said this morning was so sweet! Just so there isn't any confusion: I really, really like you too ;o)

aaa. that dress is divine! i wanted that so bad! but it was too expensive.
looks wonderful on you! love your blog darling.
hope you had a great weekend.

I am so glad you wore the ACNE dress? You look fabulous!

And that room is way impressive. One day I'll have to go to London and be fabulous like you and your friends.

The jumpsuit, the dress...Sabine I literally want to raid your wardrobe! And that guest room is divine - you look like Audrey Hepburn in such a setting! :)

Fab dress! No one really dresses up anymore, but sometimes it's nice just to dig out the nice stuff, or else you'll never end up wearing it. We had 30 degrees today so dresses are all I can handle...

Can't wait to see more elephants ;-)

Better to be overdressed than underdressed I always say! I love this dress, and I love the funky silhouette it creates.
Oh, and I am LOVING the picture of you in your playsuit next to the elephant! what a funky, funky elephant

Am I not, Shari? Dressing up is so much fun. And no, strangely the elephant wasn't hot. You know, they have this special thick skin...

Kira - Thank you! If I only knew what HC is.

Little Fashion Diary - More elephants to come! Rhinos sounds great, too!

Maddy - Thank you! This warms my heart!

Ooh that romper looks great on you! I feel that they are difficult to pull of so I have a lot of respect for your romping right now =)
Also that dress is fabulous and I bet you were catching everyone's eyes all night. Especially with those extraordinary legs!!!
And thank you for hearing of Indiana haha. I'm just a country gal who spends too much time denying her roots. I figured it was time to come clean.

You look great. Hope you had a great time at the party. The elephants are wonderful arent they. They has them in Amsterdam too when I was over there last October. The best one I have seen so far is in the Strand and is inside as it is covered in jewels. It is amazing. The elephants are such a great way to raise money and awareness for their plight. My husband wants to buy one for the garden. I wonder how much they will eventually auction for. Xxxx

Beautiful chandelier...yes, your friend seems to have excellent taste.
As for feeling overdressed, who cares, if you end up looking chic and impeccable (as you do here). I am almost always more done up than everyone else; I say it's time to revive glamour and good dressing!
You look lovely, both outfits. xo
