Sweaty Tuesday or More Trackies

Okay, the trend might be a few years old now, but I still love the sweatpants look, and looking at the s/s and a/w 2010 shows this fashion is still going strong. Funny thing is, some people even just seem to have noticed the possibility of wearing 'Sweatpants with Stilettos'. At least that was the title of an article in the Wall Street Journal beginning of April. Their fashion forward colleagues at the NY Times Magazine could hardly believe it… 'Yes!' they answered (sniggering: 'duh, how behind are these guys?!')

But apart from bitching journalists… I want more of the lazy look, which is why I’m delighted to have picked up this blazer at the topshop sale. Stilettos atafeet!*

If at all, how are you prepping up your sweatpants?

*I'm sure I heard this expression somewhere, or is it just my brain making up new expressions at a whim?

blazer: topshop, t-shirt: h&m, tracksuit bottoms: select, shoes: scholls

Jersey jumpsuit? That sounds cosy!

You really do pull off sweatpants very well! Yet the part that I love best is the vest, and the luggage photo looks great!

Sweatpants can look very lazy at times but you have made them look really chic, great look.
And who cares how old the "trend" is you have put your own stamp on it!

Sabine, you look really hot in those. Lucky you. I have a pair, but the fabric is too thick i think and it adds inches to my already bulbous ass... not a good look.

Only you can make sweatpants fashionable! I use to live in the stuff during college, but have since replaced them with the comfy, yet polished look of the cargo pants.

It's settled: you look amazing in everything you wear. I love sweats but can only pull them off mildly. They are essential, though,, in my line of work. I usually pair them with something knitted on top.

Now those are some amazing sweatpants Sabine! And you wear them sooo well.

In general I do not wear sweatpants. They are ideal for my walks in the woods. I love the cases you are perched on by the way; they have a story;-)

SabinePsynopsis said...

Helene & FA&F - You are so right. I have a lot of old suitcases in the house because I need to feel that I can always pack up and go. Once a gypsie, always a gypsie, I guess.

Kazuko said...

it must be your body - otherwise i think it's not that easy to pull that sweat-look off so well as you do! are you working out regularly? or is it in your genes?

Style by Skeide said...

Wow j`adore your style darling:)

SabinePsynopsis said...

Thank you, Kazuko, though I do feel I'm falling apart lately and although it's so much fun, all this blogging really isn't good for the body. But I used to work as a teacher for ashtanga yoga (and still do a bit every day) and I also play tennis - so, yes, I do try to balance a life of sitting around and way too much driving in a car.

You actually make this look elegant and sophisticated! I'm not one to wear sweatpants in public (love them at home) and something tells me this trend will never catch on in Paris where it's considered a big no-no to wear homegear outside. This would be a great look for LA!

Leah said...

I love how you styled your sweatpants... you look so chic and so glamorous. I never thought sweatpants would look this fabulous but you changed my views. xoxo

I love this. That blazer is making me jealous and those are the perfect sweats-as-pants. Thank you so much for your recommendations in London. I'm so excited. And I'll actually be coming back, most likely, in 2011 fall. So, if you have Time then we can maybe schedule a little tea meet up! I'm afraid this time I have so much on my schedule I'll barrel be able to do half the things people have suggested. But I'm going to try my best.

sadly i think this one is only for women, in terms of whats out there on the high street. if i was to try them same in zara or h & m i'd turn out looking a bit wannabe gangster.

i'd like to try some classy ones though, like yours!

It is funny how we see things differently from country to country. When I lived in Amsterdam, it was normal to wear sweatpants out, new and fancy ones of course, but then I bought a great pair at the Repetto store in Paris, and when I hinted I wanted to use them outside the house, the sales lady nearly passed out. The comments on this post reflects the same, I think.

But you make it look good. :-) Sandra

rossovelvet said...

You still rock them, seriously !!!! If you layer them with taste -just like you did- they're fine to me, I just hate them obviously with UGG or à la bad-hollywood starlet.
Also: your hair are SO beautiful. It's really impressive !!

wow i have to say this is one of the best styling out of sweatpants. you got it wayyy too cool. we don't really wear too much of sweatpants here but i think i want to now.
