Wild Thing You Make My Heart Sink

Psynopsis Lucien Pellat-Finet Skull T-Shirt
I've got one 'designer' t-shirt. It's by Lucien Pellat-Finet and was given to me by a friend who had bought it for it’s nice picture on the back. 'But Sabine, it's got HOLES!' she cried when it arrived. 'I don’t want a t-shirt with holes and I really can’t be bothered to send it back. You want it?'. I think the price had been something around £150, which is actually cheap in comparison to the Slashed Army t-shirt by Balmain, which will relieve you of around £800 or $1000, as I found out on my latest shopping trip. I know Balmain isn't cheap, but somehow I can tolerate the price of several thousand quid for one of Mr Decarnin’s jackets more than the price for the t-shirt. Something in me shouts: "It's just a bloody t-shirt!" I wonder if anyone buys them or am I overlooking something here?
I really don't know why this reminds me of my favourite children’s book… Maybe because it (the t-shirt? the price?) brings out the rebel in me.

Is there a child in the world who didn't love this book? Ah, good memories. That's a beautiful colour blue.
I think I also have a "designer" t-shirt. Pretty sure I got it from a magazine, though. Haha!

nice post! and finally someone said it - this Balmain army T-shirt - no, no, no.

sometimes you see something ordinary but very expensive in a magazine and when you see it in real life you kinda understand why it's so expensive. but this is not the case with the before mentioned T-shirt.

The first photo is really cool, and I can see why it would bring out the rebel in you! I so agree with you about the Balmain t-shirts...so hard to imagine spending that much money on a tshirt but I guess they sell? I love the colours in the last photos also - the blue, green, and yellow all look so vibrant together! :)

Happy Tuesday!

Ha, it seems Balmain brought out my inner child instead of the inner rock chick!

Love the skull t. But I totally agree with you on the cost of designer t's. No way would I spend 800 quid on a t..
Love you 4 up shots. Another fun day by the looks of things. Xxxx

I love it! You pull off the tough girl thing very well. I really should go see that movie.

I loved the book, but wasn't wild over the movie. I like my imagination better than the imagination of others.
On the t-shirt issue, I cannot see how the high prices justify the fact that it is just a t-shirt after all.

SabinePsynopsis said...

True, they've made a movie now... No, I don't think I'll watch it either, that could really mess up my childhood memories.

Gosh, there really is a hole in that tshirt! I don't think I could ever justify spending so much on a tee!

i often wonder why ugly stuff is so expensive? because of its unique ugliness? where is the second picture taken from?

Can I just say: the lace boy shorts under the denim shorts is genius. I've never seen it done quite like that, and I'm LOVING it.
Looks like a fun day! Wish I had some grass to prance around in!

Oh you're so lucky to get such a great T-shirt! I love anything with a skull print - the tee is fab (never mind the holes!). My dream is to have a Lucien Pellat-Finet cashmere jumper with a skull print but they cost about £1,000!! One day...! x

What a lovely tee, and with holes too, that makes it all the more alluring. The image is so playful from book. And I love the colours on you in the garden amongst the flowers. So positively charming!;-)

Oh, your Balmain DIY was the coolest indeed !
I hate the fact that Balmain's designs go out of stock at the second, it's disgusting.... what a stupid world seriously.

Very Balmain hole shirt!

Ferferi said...

I so agree about the Balmain t-shirt. But to something else and I hope you don't mind. What a great back you have! The shape is fantastic. And I know this is so odd of me to say but I guess it's because I used to draw a lot, and especially womens body. So I have to say this. You have a beautiful back.

This is awesome - by the way, I'll be featuring something about my coxing later on in the week, so you can see all about it. Have a look!

Cute photos!! I know, when I saw that Balmain shirt and that price, I thought it was a little ridiculous! I wouldn't say no to anything else though! His jackets and pants are always welcome in my closet! xoxoxoxoo

Oh, no, it is not just you. I feel that way too. It is a little bit like overpriced water... Only a couple of times did I fork out a large amount of money on a tshirt, but in return I never regretted it. I still remember them: One was from the Sofia Coppola line (there was only one collection ever made, I think, was is called Milk?), a tiffany blue babydoll tshirt, with Tiffany & Co logo print (I wish I had kept it, even if it was too small), and the other was the first line (?) Stella McCartney made for Chloe, a long sleeved t with a banana print. Ha. Everybody mocked me for paying too much, but I still love it today. The exceptions to the rule. :-) Sandra

I love YOU in this t-shirt! :-) You look amazing! I have to be honest with you: the only t-shirt I will be willing to pay that much money for is not the t-shirt by Balmain. I really do not see anything extraordinary about Balmain t-shirts. They are severely overpriced at best. My choice would be t-shirt by Lanvin, but it is a matter of opinion I suppose.:-) I am wishing you wonderful the rest of the week darling Sabine. :-))) Blue is, most certainly, your color!

Well said Sabine...but the children's book that comes to mind for me is The Emperor's New Clothes! :)

I really do love that t-shirt, if anybody didn't love holes in fabrics what would be of Alexander Wang's tops? :P

Though I have read LOADS of books in my life, somehow this particular one evaded me. I have heard of it, and a lot of my friends (the boys, of course) actually have tattoos of characters from this book; though I have never read it myself! :(

Too funny! The other day I was just thinking of making a post about the price of the Balmain tee myself! You hit the nail on the head - $1000+ for a t-shirt is way, way over the top, even for an expensive designer. There is simply no way to defend that price bracket for such a garment if no diamonds (genuine) are included.

Otherwise, I love me some holes. I'm taking an old army green Gina Tricot dress (bought for nickels at a sale) and cutting a few holes in it - and voilá - budget Balmain.

So true, I don't know who gets the Balmain ones either, but someone must be, no? Anyhow, do like this one, holes and all, and especially like the lace under the jeans shorts! Looking forward to seeing a braided headband! I'm sure it would look great and that youu can pull it off! Let me know if anyother questions arrive, but basically just do as I already replied on the original post, just pull it in the front when you cant any longer and continue there. xx
