Do It Like Michelle

Kitten heels… Are they really coming back? They’ve been spotted in the autumn/winter collections of Louis Vuitton, Giambattista Valli, Valentino, Isabel Marant, Stella McCartney and Giles Deacon (who actually already introduced them for spring/summer) and naturally in Chanel’s 50s inspired, St. Tropez located resort collection. But the true first lady of the sensible heel is… well, the First Lady, who not only makes a case for being able to actually walk but also channels the recession mood à la: Times are tough, now our shoes need to serve a function again (instead of being mere chauffeur driven decorations).

So what about you, kitties… Kitten heels – 'Yes, please' or 'No, thank you'?

Plus, what do you think? Has blue become the new red? (Sorry, I'm still hopeless at painting nails.)

For me it is a 'No Thanks'. But I am aware what trends can do to you, affect you and make you change your mind. So I will get back to that question in one year and see (hope) if I still feel the same. Right now though I am thinking about buying clogs. Hmm.

SabinePsynopsis said...

But, Ferferi, you are Swedish, you MUST wear clogs! (At least according to my children's books, all Swedish people wear clogs. Or were they Dutch? I'm confused now.)

I love heels...and in my mind, even a small heel is better than no heel! hehe

and as for the nailpolish, the blue looks nice but I dont think any color will ever replace red in terms of nail polish! Red is just such a classic...

I think all the colors are fun - but I am boring I tend to stick with my OPI Lincoln Park After Dark every mani/pedi... I need to break out of my rut more! (-;

Lol! I don't know about kitten heels. Reminds me of something Suri Cruise might wear ;o)

i still have kitten heels from the last kitten revolution in the 1990s. and they are still nice to look at, but other than that... i'm not sure...

I LOVE kitten heels. I'm not good at wearing heels so a kitten heel is small enough that I can rock it.

You're hard on yourself (aren't ALL the artists in us!) Your DIY "beehive" is very delicate and a welcome detail to a flat front skirt!
I have always been self-conscious of my height, not because I'm 5'7", It's really not that tall, but my closest friends are shorter so I have rarely worn heels. I might do the kitten, like the Stella bone pumps.

Kitten heels are cool. The soles of my feet are so sore today I wish I was wearing a smaller heel.
Blue nails to go with the sky today - sweet. Xxxx

Actually, kitten heels were never "Out of style" - I find them quite elegant and ladylike. I try not to follow "Trends" - I prefer to wear what I find attractive. Kitten heels are for the day-time. I love wearing them. I think they are timeless. Nice images and I love the nail varnish. So bright and gay;-)

I love blue nails on toes. A little whimsical and unexpected. And i love kitten heels. My favorite heels have always been kitten. But that's just my style. :)

Cafe Fashionista said...

I think kitten heels look gorgeous on you; for me...no thanks. I just don't think the height suits me. And yes...blue has so become the new red as of late - it seems like EVERYONE is wearing it!! :)

I've always been convinced kitten heels can only work in an extremely stylized outfit. I dunno. I can't say I understand them. I like the way those last shoes look on your feet, though. Maybe I just can't pull them off.
I also think the main reason Mrs. Obama wears them is related to her height. She can't exactly wear platforms! So between that and the comfort thing, they're a shoe of sensibleness. And so are crocs and uggs. so.....

i'm clumsy at painting my nails, too. fortunately, the messy parts come off after a day or so, then it looks rather 'pro'.
kitten heels- i have 5 pairs of manolos and choos that i almost consigned. however, i had second thoughts. they're kind of cute and retro and of course easy to walk in, and very summery. i've decided to keep them. one pair, i'm embellishing w/ crystals. but...would i buy kitten heels now? no. i still prefer high heels.

hi darling. thanks for stopping by. im also addicted to nailpolish- ive just bought one mint and one lightgreen- im just buying the cheapest brand(3 dollars each bottle) and they work ok to me. though neon pink is my favourite nailpolish-wise.
i missed out of that js and topshop collaboration too.. sucks..
but there's always ebay;)
hope youre having a wonderful week darling

To be very truthful, i am almost allergic to kitten heels.. and while i see how they can be practical, i just don't think i'll ever be able to consider them stylish... never have, never will! Cut nail color though ;) xx

I'm turning my nose up at the kitten! They always look odd on me, and seem to make my calves look utterly huge!

I love the blue nails - red is so over! :) x

They are not for me. Unless you have model legs, they are so unflattering.

oh the kitten heel talk. the cynical part of me thinks designers are pushing this just to sell more product. if the high shoes are out, we all have to race out and buy kitten heels, and that means more money/sales for designers and stores. i am not sure what to think. i won't be racing out to get any and am trying to make do with what i have at the moment!

I can definitely do kittens, I'm tall so anything over 3 inches is hard for me! And yeah, I'm loving blue polish, but lately I've also been seeing a metallic olive green and I love it!

The kitten heels are not my friend. I don't look right in such a dainty thing..and prefer my crazy all out heels or flats...nothing in between for this girl!

i think the are makeing a come back but to me its less about trend and more about Nek lol, what i'm tryin to say is that if the shoe goes with the outfit then i'll wear it

Haha for some reason I feel blue is the new red for summer! I always associate red with winter hues!
And hmm the kitten heels are quite nice, though I always prefer something a little taller!

I've actually recently bought a pair of kitten heel courts for work - surprisingly they were the only pair that fitted me as I have very narrow feet. Am terrified though because I always somehow fall over in kitten heels because I'm so used to stilettos. :/

I don't know if this trend will catch on... so many people seem to turn their noses up at this trend. If the right amount of celebrities cotton onto this trend then we could see a sudden change of viewpoint however!

no thanks for me! I just think if you want to be comfortable wear flats, if you want to look sexy and tall wear heels. The in-between is pointless to me!

I have the same nail polish colour on now!

ps I call it my cockroack ring because I girl I used to teach dance to said it looked like a cockoach on my finger! ewww!

Heeeellooo, I'm back. I feel quite ambivalent about kitten heels, too. Especially the first pair (which are like the coolest pair of Fendi shoes) look ridiculous on me, and actually make my legs look very short. Not convinced yet of the kitten heel...

I love kitten heels; especially for work. I have a pair of vintage kittens that are in an amazing olive color. They are a staple for me. I also am a tall woman (over 5'9") and I don't need the extra height; I use heels for purposeful enjoyment.
I think that red will always be red; however the blue is fun and fresh, great for summer! I personally have been using dark purples... not sure why.

Christine said...

Yes! The only heel I like to wear and can seem to manage to walk in with my flat feet. Just a little heel can go a long way. Have a great weekend!

I like kitten heels, because it's less intimidating to wear than 5 inch heels in terms of tripping and getting blisters. So I do hope for a comeback for them! and lovely blue on your toenails!

I don't care for kitten heels.
And blue polish is awesome. My toes are tiffany blue at the moment.

For me the kitten heel is a "no thanks". On the nail polish I am thinking of getting my hands on that new money-green color (US$) "One" from Uslu Airlines. How cool is that? :-) Sandra

I really do love kitten heels. I'm a big fan. My favorite pair of shoes I own is a pair of Prada burgundy patent leather kitten heels that have little star cut outs. I've had them for close to ten years and still wear them all the time :)

And I'm LOVING the blue. It looks fab!

Have a wonderful weekend, honey!

I prefer either totally flat or a higher heel. The lowest pair of heels I've got are about 5 cm (2 inches), and sometimes I feel even that is too low.

I love heels but I am very tall so I usually opt for flats...I adore your nail colour!
