Only for Toddlers?

Psynopsis Frangipani Bloomers Gold T-Shirt

Psynopsis Bruno Frisoni Gold Shoes Lambertson Truex Bag Frangipani Bloomers
Another of my easy DIY projects are these bloomers which I made from an old pair of bermudas. They are comfortable and the colour (which, according to Vogue is not brown anymore, oh no, it’s LATTE which makes it a so much more exciting colour, don’t you think?) goes well with gold.

But when a woman at work recently passed me by saying: "Nice trousers, my 2-year old daughter has exactly the same." I got a bit insecure. But then I thought "What the heck, what would fashion life be without a bit of ridicule now and then?" Don’t you think? (and please don’t say No now!)

shoes: bruno frisoni, trousers: frangipani, top: 2nd hand, bag: lambertson truex

Her comment was a bit inconvenient but funny :) And I don't think they're weird or for toddlers only, I thing they're pretty darn cute and that you should share with us this DIY process. ;)
Have a great week!

Ha, you have NO IDEA how many DIY projects I'm planning to share in the next few days. This was a bit too easy to put in writing though. Just some string to tighten the legs at the bottom and a bit of stitching at the side to make the leg fall more interestingly.

You're amazing, you know that? I don't care if this woman dresses her daughter in these, they look downright fabulous on you. The outfit, and the images themselves, it's all just incredible. Love it.

These are great. Question - what was the person who made you feel bad wearing????? When I get comments like these it is pretty usual to be able to retort with leg and stand on. Usually these comments come from someone who has no clue. Loving the LATTE and Gold - looking forward to seeing your gold tennis dress too ;-)

Fashionistable - Gold tennis dress?!? You are giving my ideas...
What can I say, the country side normally isn't a place cramped with fashion forward people (they normally flee to the cities after school); but I don't take these things seriously. It just made for a nice anecdote. Thank you for your lovely support!

Fabulous DIY project! Dare I say that you might have started a new trend?? And it's forgiving in all the right places ;o)

These look so comfy - I've got a pair of cargo pants I'm tired of and should attempt to convert them like this. Love'em.

love your DIY. they seem very cozy. comment is inappropriate-- pisses me off sometimes when people commenting on my clothes( like your skirt is too short, why you wearing a tee as dress) I say if you like give a compliment, if you don't leave your mouth close

Every time I go to the children's clothing area I think... I wish I had clothes as awesome as them! So although her comment was strange I would take comfort in that. But I agree that, yes, fashion is fashion because you need to be noticed. And not all will like what they are noticing.

Valerie said...

I think these look fabulous on you and they also look comfy! Good for you for taking that comment in stride, it was not very nice. I've had some comments like that recently too and they sting for a second, but then I've decided that when we put ourselves out there to be critiqued, some people are bound to criticize. :( Either way, you look great!

You rock them honey!!! Don't even worry about her comment. I think they're absolutely FAB and how amazing that you DIYed it :)

Dusk said...

Hmmm... I think that woman had bloomer envy....because really, what a stupid comment!

As if that kid was wearing latte coloured DIY berloomers!

You should have said; "Wow! Your 2yo is really stylish huh? Where did she get that from?" :)

These are very clever. They're like tulip shorts. I seriously love them and you with your toned killer legs and f()AB(ulou)S are rocking them!

SabinePsynopsis said...

Really, Dusk, where were you when I needed you?!?! That would have been the perfect reponse!

¸I love your little bloomers, they are really nice! I can't believe a lady actually said that, because they are really nice and perfect for the summer.

Anyway about your comment on my blog I am sorry I didn't erase it. I was just sick the past weeks so I didn't had the occasion to managed the comments, but its on now! Thanks for stopping by :)

Have a nice day

I'd say she made that comment because she was jealous of your style - she probably wanted a pair of her own. You look stunning, Sabine!! :)

S.Elisabeth said...

Hmm if she meant int it a malicious way, I think I would reply with "Wow so you can dress your two-year-old so fashionably, and yet-- here pause, and give her a cold look up and down--" then turn around and go back to whatever your were doing. If she didn't mean it meanly just say, "What can I say, my inner child is bursting out!" Ha
I like them! I think they're so much fun and latte is definitely a more exciting color!

Fashion, Art and other fancies said...

This is hilarious - You should have told her that there is a child in all of us - LOL. I enjoy your DIY since I unable to sew. I might just learn how to sew here at Psynopsis - Latte is a warm and lovely colour by the way;-)

Christine said...

They look great. And so comfortable. I think adults worry more about blending in then standing out. So any comment is a good one.

Those pants are really amazing ! And you know,as I do to, that people love to talk.To talk, and talk and talk and talk..and you should congrat her daughter because she is so in fashion with her Latte bloomers :))

Great DIY and lovely blog ! Want to follow eachother , perhaps?

Ha ha, this has made me chuckle. I have some bid-fronted cigarette pants, if I'd known they did them for kids I would have saved myself the VAT ;)

(Nice DIY job, more to the point)

Well, firstly, these are very professional looking for a DIY project. Second, latte, really? Did we need a new color? Doesn't sound bad though, makes me think of yellow sunny mornings and good coffee with a piece of toast and honey. And third, that must be one very stylish 2-year old ;)

Dressing On The Side said...

we love these! We always get "that's so unusual" "very unique" and you KNOW what those people are thinking as they look at you....oh well...we live a much more enchanted, imaginative life you and me :)

shari @ little blue deer said...

No, they're totally cute! They look good on you because you're so fit, they might be a bit much on a heavier person but you can SO pull them off! Latte, lol!

Daphne said...

Ok clearly you're some sort of bloomer wizard! These are AMAZING! They would be the worst possible fashion choice for my body type, but I would totally rock them regardless. And the colour really is cool.

Umm, I hope you are friends with that woman, because if not, I think it was a bit snarky. I think they are great and look very comfortable for the warmer weather.
Did you respond, "oh did your 2 year old make them too?"
haha

That sounds like a crazy insecure little woman, that one, that she felt the need to say that to you. Call it a compliment, she was most likely jealous, if she pitied you she would never have opened her beak. It could be that you simply have the body to pull off everything. Even a bad purchase from Net A Porter. :-) Sandra

you did a great job and don't ever listen to what people say in regards to what you wear. My theory is if they don't like that is ok with me as that is why it is on me and not them.
