This was the first time in my life I went to a Prom.* Gee… the dresses, the limos… To me it felt like a mixture of practising for the Oscars and realising childhood Barbie dreams (what would I haven given for wearing one of my Barbie dresses as a little girl!) - although the vehicles were a bit more diverse (apart from limos there were skate boards, busses, tractors, motor cycles, fire machines, tanks (!), horses…)
Do you still have your Prom dress? And do you ever wear it?
Wishing you a great start to the week. Love & Kisses!
Sadly there were no Proms at German schools, though this might have changed by now.

"A Prom" in Great Britain? Welcome to the new world.
Seriously, I have never been to a prom in Europe though I recall graduating from boarding school.
Please extend an invitation to the next prom, dear;-)
we never even had one but i did gatecrash one of my friends. was a super night
Oh, so not EVERY school in the UK has a Prom?
Hi Sabine,
I too, went to school abroad for a year (Ireland)... and no proms there either...girls school.
Thank you for stopping by : )
Alex ♥
I had a prom at my school and I still have the dress! It was a lovely gold grecian thing - the best dress I ever had!

We had a prom night in our college in Tunisia it was a first! I was so glad to experienced it! I still have my dress, I chose a more audrey hepburn look so I am still able to wear it without anyone knowing it was my prom dress :)
That's so great, prom dresses! I had a terrible time at my prom, though I did have a fab LBD, the evening ended up with us watching The Wall and me feeling sick, sick, sick (not because of The Wall, I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan), other stuff made me sick! LOL! Ha, thanks for the memories, Sabine! I hope your Sunday is just fabulous! XO!
My prom was SO casual, I really feel like I missed out. I am going to ensure I totally overdress for my leaver's ball, if it looks to be as casual.
At the same time, I really dislike the whole sparkly full length princess dress look. I adore these photos, though; they are so vivid! xxx
you know prom is one part of teenage life that i will always miss..in indian (where i did my schooling) we don't have any prom kind of thing...there is a farewell in high school in which girls are supposed to wear sarees (traditional indian dress)..so , iam always fascinated by all prom things..the dresses, the limo's and the preparations..love the pink one in this..so pretty..i would totally have worn it on my prom (if ever there was)..superb post :)
Have a great week ahead
Love

I didn't know they had proms in England. I still have yet to wear a dress like that. I like to dress up and all, but I like the idea of wearing a ball gown only when there's a red carpet involved. Have a lovely week! xo
Oh! I wore a borrowed Indian/Fusion outfit to my prom and then we had a graduation ball in college but I won't fit in that dress any more for I was 25kgs heavier back then! Haha! But I would like to alter that dress coz it was really pretty and took me ages to find one that I really like :)
I thought dressing up for the prom, the corsage , getting my hair done, was so special!!
Sabine, sure you can follow on Bloglovin!

People go to the extremes for proms these days! I still have my prom dress. I still have never worn it again, but it's the type of style that I actually could. Just waiting for the right opportunity!
I do still have my prom dress and wore it several times after the prom. I could still wear it, but I think it should stay retired.
Love those photos. My "prom dress" was a black Gucci minidress and an Alexander McQueen jacket with Chanel shoes (I kid you not) so...that was that!
The only problem is I seem to have finished going through puberty (let me believe it!) since then, thus, both items are a tad on the tight side (though, not the shoes.)
Clearly I will be keeping them regardless, and likely getting back into them from time to time. Hah!
xo
I love it the pink dress!

The pink dress is beautiful. It doesn't even matter that it's pink(not my favorite color). The prom... :)
We don't have proms in Indian schools. At least we did not have them in our time. But we did have the school parties for which we all dressed up.
This is such a pretty selection! Wish I could go to one.
The dress does'nt fit me anymore, haha, I kind of had a goth dress.
Interesting event and thankfully no, I don't still have my prom dresses. Have a good Monday!
Oh boy now that looks like too much fun! Love the colors...it's like a Barbie dream come true :)
I actually didn't go to my prom. I was such a rebel at the time. Kinda wish I had gone now...
Hope u had a lovely weekend. Stay cool sweetie! xoxo
I still have ALL the formal dresses I wore over the years in HS. Wish I could still FIT in them!
Proms look awesome, it's a shame such things don't exist in europe...

I didn't go to my prom. I went to a Madonna concert instead.

The red dress that laces up the back is actually very beautiful! I wore a little black dress to my prom. I wanted to be able to look at the photos 20 years later and not be embarrassed by what I was wearing lol!
love the first dresses!

is it just me...or this happens to most of us..i hated my prom look haha i looked at the pictures and i'm thinking " what was i thinking?!" the hair, the makeup, the dress..were all wrong! but i guess one thing is right- the memories of it. it was fun time :)
and i still have the dress in my closet...somewhere..hiding.
xxjess
ahh my prom dress is definitely stashed in the back of a closet somewhere... don't think i'll revisit in a while haha. very nice post! xoxolannie.
Ah, I loved my prom! I wore a really unique dress with none of the frizz and fluff. And a few years later, my sister wore it to her prom! :) x
We don´t have that kind of prom here in Norway :( beautiful dresses <3
Oh, prom. It was completely overrated. I think I still have my dress, somewhere! So long ago, that was!
I went to school in South Africa & we didn't have the real "prom" as they have in America. We just had a party so i didn't really get to dress as pretty as a barbie :-)
xx
There were no proms in Scotland when I was at school but it's really big now. There was something in the local paper last week about a school banning a kid from arriving at prom in a helicopter!
That last pink dress is soooooooo pretty and princessy - I love it!
xx
i do still have my prom dress and i love it but i haven't worn it soon- i was much smaller at 16!
Oh how cute! I still have my prom dresses (from the end of school and the end of sixth form...), never worn the first one again but have worn the second one a few times!

These are brilliant shots. Love them. Love the vibrancy. I never got to go to a prom either - they didnt have them in Ireland when I was a kid - we too busy dodging bombs. They have them there now thank god. It would have been great to dress as Barbie ;-).
Thank you so much for your lovely comment earlier. Have a great week Xxxx
i never went to prom. wah! one guy asked me, and let's just say he was unacceptable. he was the guy that wore army fatigues to high school (daily) and couldn't wait to enlist. HORRORS.
yep,, i still have my prom dress but never put it on again. for no real reason really, i just had no reason to. i guess being an american a prom is just the end of school year
the pictures i took made it able for me to look back on the events of that day more than the dress
so magical + pretty!

Ah these pictures are lovely. And I have both my prom dresses still as they were just this year and last! I absolutely adore them, and my last one shall be altered one day to be a mini dress for cocktails and other events!
Our school only has senior prom, next year, next year. I'm excited to find some crazy vintage dress for it though.

PS. check out my DIOR Compact giveaway!
My prom dress was a nightmare. Or maybe it was my hair which made the dress look like a nightmare. I don't know. I got rid of the dress.
I still have my prom dress, because is quite weareable, I posted it one timw in my blog. Is short, chic, with a 60's vibe. I love it.
But I really hate that pink dress for example, too princess.
Kisses!
