The Shapes to Come

Psynopsis Vintage Chanel Blazer 2nd Hand Summer Dress
Maybe it's because halfway through summer I get bored with my clothes, maybe it’s because I'm stuck in the 90s, but I'm really excited about the new autumn/winter shapes. High-waisted trousers, round shoulders, spacious sweaters and jackets, longer skirts lengths and lady-like handbags… I want to play with it NOW.

After having spent my whole autumn budget on
Chanel purchases I needed to find a CHEAP lady-like handbag. I got this Margaret Thatcher model at Beyond Retro for £15. I'm sure it could function as a weapon, too. Maggie would be so proud!

Mmmh, not quite convinced of the whole lady-like thing yet. But hey, it's a while until winter!
Psynopsis Vintage Chanel Blazer Denim Shorts

What's your stand on turning lady-like this winter? Hugs & Kisses!

handbag: 2nd hand (The Dorchester Birks), dress: from my mum, denim shorts: gap kids (cut-offs), bra: wolford, shoes: russell & bromley, blazer: chanel

Your mother's sun dress is beyond fabulous, Sabine. She must have the same gorgeously slender frame as you.
I think we're thinking on similar lines, I've bought a vintage framed granny-bag from the car boot this morning, so not my usual style but so utterly ladylike.
But please can we have a couple of months more of summer before we have to get our tights out again? xxx

Fantastic bag, Honey! :)

I so hope for it, Vix. My mum would be delighted to hear your words. These days she likes to say: 'Can you believe I fit into this!'

Oh, I'm up for ladylike fashion ALL year round! I'm especially looking forward to longer skirt lengths. Sabine, I have bought almost ZERO "dresses" this summer because they're all so short they might as well be tops! I mean, can ANYONE pull those off as dresses (and should they even be trying?!)

I love that dress you're wearing and the ladylike handbag is just PERFECT! Just the kind of thing I would like to nick from an older relative if she had one! (haha I'm sure Maggie Thatcher would definitely be proud that it could serve as a weapon too)

I'm still working on becoming a lady, Leia. And I do have to admit that I like short skirts and dresses. But I love this white dress, too. It feels lovely when walking.

i love the mix of masculine and feminine with the sharpness of the bag- looks so great together!

Some say my public style is lady-like but somehow I doubt it. lol.
Your mama must have a very nice figure; you both wear the same size, how lovely!;-)

Your bag is lovely though unable to tell the quality and feel of the leather from a picture, but she looks very lady-like indeed;-)

LOL, the bag is so Maggie!! I am sure she will be very proud! This winter I am gonna buy more skirts styled with belts for a more lady-like look!

My friend had on the most fabulous high-waisted trousers today, they looked so elegant with a little white top. You are looking gorgeous, as usual, check out the muscles in that tennis-playing arm! I found a knock-off Bottega Veneta ladylike handbag at a thrift shop this weekend, and I actually bought it, I usually don't do knockoffs, but this one reminded me of fall, and hey, Bottega Veneta, you know? Not like I'll be rocking a cheap LV ripoff! Have a fab day, my dear!

SabinePsynopsis said...

Arrgh Shari, you noticed the tennis arm, did you? It looks really silly in comparison to the other (nice and slim) one. Oh well...
A 2nd hand Bottega Veneta like handbag must be good & we will all be ladies come end of the year!

I'm with you all the way - totally ready for AW! The girls in the office today were complaining about the new stuff coming in when it's only July, but I love it! So ready to buy my winter coat (cape!). Love the ladylike look. xx

I love the crisp lines of the jacket!

While I'm never very ladylike, I almost always go for a more 40s or 50s look in the winter, so I guess it's kinda lady like.c

The ladylike look is dangerously close to frumpy, at least on me.. It really fits the petite and/or very slender frames the best, I think. Not to mention the whole etiquette side of things, if you dress the part, you need to act it too. I want my clothes to work for me, not the other way around, haha. But I am with you on dreaming of a new wardrobe. I have been rearranging my closet the last couple of days, trying to fool myself into thinking it is all new. As if. High on my list for fall is a pair of flat laced up boots. If I can find the perfect pair. :-) Sandra

I am all up for lady like this winter. Last winter I spent in leggings and jeans ... may be this year can try something different ... but I am not yet done with summer. The shorts and skirts are still calling my name. I like you in that lady like dress but like you more in the last pic :P

While I'm not a fan of the longer skirts (Only because of my height and body shape! They look terrible on me!) I love the idea of it in general!! And you look gorgeous in all these pictures, I love the dress!

ilovecoolthings said...

i dunno...
i can't wear those longer skirts
and i don't have an ample bosom
but i could most likely find a lady's purse
and perhaps some pony skin shoes?
that should do!

drollgirl said...

i LOVE that dress! just FANTASTIC!!!

and a little bit lady like can be kind of fun. but not TOO lady like. i have to pair it with messy hair. or something else. don't want to look like a prude! bah.

I too, like so many other people, am giddy about the fall designs. So much so I've already started shopping as well. =) There really is something to be said for looking, dressing and feeling like a woman - we should be proud and lucky to do so. Great find with your purse and love the white dress. You look beautiful. Have a lovely weekend. =)
