Leopard Ladies or Who To Put on My Blog

I’m totally enjoying showing you my fashion week impressions, and could happily go on like this forever, but yesterday I was asked why I'm now constantly featuring other people instead of myself. Immediately my heart expanded to a balloon, I got teary eyed and wept: 'What a lovely question! She wants to see ME'. (Thank you, Dusk!) Truth be told I’m finding the idea of putting myself on the internet still weird and can hardly believe that anyone would find that interesting. The real reason for mainly 'modelling' myself was that I wanted to practise my photography and talk fashion, but didn’t have access to enough models (plus, I’m a shy photographer).

On the other hand I don’t really fancy being a street photographer… My vision is some kind of 'associative style inspiration' blog. Which leads me to the question: Do you have a fixed concept for your blog or do you follow your moods and whims?

Anyway, today not me again (and many of you will thank me for this, I’m sure), but, oh look, it's Leopard Brix*. Did I say there was a lot of leopard print at LFW? Believe me, there was!

Wasn't there just (a lot of leopard skin)? I love it but beginning to think I'm going to pack my beloved coats away in case people think I'm jumping on the bandwagon.
I wish Brix would lay of the Botox, she was gorgeous and now just a parody of the beauty she once was.
And...hey, Sabine, from a fellow 43 year old blogger we need to see more of you. The internet's not just for 20-somethings you know. xxx

Of course we want to see you! But honestly, your editorials of other people are just as wonderful. You truly have a gift for words as well as looks!

Sabine, I'm far from being twentysomething, but I adore playing with my camera and improving my photography skills.
Indeed, I love seeing more of you, my sweet friend, so I tend to agree with the graceful and striking Dusk;-)

Sabine, to be honest I've no idea what the focus of my blog is! It's something I've been thinking about a lot lately as, like you, the idea of taking pics of myself in 'outfits' and posting them online often strikes me as the weirdest thing ever! But, as Vix said, the internet is for us 'oldies' too and there aren't that many places you can go to get fashion inspiration after 40. But I do come to your blog to see you show your style, so it's time for an update with pics of you, missus! xx

Oh thank you! This really warms my heart! I've got one in the pipeline; just need to find the time to do it. Time, it's an issue!

And as Vix says, botox obviously isn't the solution...

You are young and pretty! (And beautiful.) If it were all younguns like me, the blogsphere would suffer intensely. We need the diversity! (And people to teach us how to be fantabulous :)

i like what you do! i love photos of you, and i like when you feature others, too.

i try to mix it up on my blog. i know if i am getting bored of a topic, that others most have been bored with it long before. it is hard to please everyone, so i mostly try to please myself and maybe a FEW others. ha.

Gahhh I love the first photo! How effing fab! :)

I definitely would love to see pics of you on your blog, but I only think you should do what you're comfortable with! If it makes you uneasy, don't let us pressure you!

And yes, I'm also the same way with my blog, I very much go with the flow, rather than have a strict guidline or whatnot. I'm just random b/c why be otherwise? Lol.

I hope you're having a wonderful week! xo

Oh I do miss seeing you though! Although I'm in love with absolutely everything you post. Your photography always enthralls me :)

Oh and leopard...I could go on and on. I've always been such a fan and have always worn it and still continue to but I'm beginning to worry that it's getting overdone. But I don't really care that much. I still wear it all the time and continue to purchase more and more of it since it's everywhere right now but I have to admit my room and closet are starting to look like a jungle! :)

Ms Sabine, First of all I think you are fantastic. Please never let what ever age you may be ever stop you being your brilliant you. If you are not a street style photographer then do not force yourself to be so. You are amazing just as you are. Your photographs are brilliant. Brix however i feel all throughout fashion week should have worn tights. Her knees are very hide able. Xxxxx

Although I do understand not wanting to be on the Net (it took me a while to just get over that, but then I thought... ahh sod it! We're all out there now!)...BUT... it is for the reasons you cite that you SHOULD be seen.

I want to see you. That's why I love your blog. You fascinate me, your style, your self-portraits, your words, thoughts, your looks.

I love your photographic eye and enjoy your photographs of what and who you see but, for me, the main attraction is YOU.

I do absolutely love people-watching and I love photographing people with looks that resonate with me... I have a separate blog for that, which I haven't paid much attention to!... but there's a plethora of these blogs plus... I have realised that my favourite blogs are my favourite blogs because of the blogger not the blog.

...and 43 is the best reason of all for showcasing you... look at you! You are a STAR!!... we need to see more women who are NOT hollywood celebrities, with their entourages dedicated to the business of making them look good, showing the world what 40+ looks like.

I dislike the overuse of the term role-models but... bloggers like you and Vix are role models.

There is far too much emphasis placed on youth when DUH... we all get older. we need to embrace this and flaunt it!! Show the young-uns that "yes, you too can look like me if you play your cards right by LIVING life well"!!

This is what I LOVE about blogging. It has made non-famous people famous. I wil be writing a long overdue post about this.

I'm 40 and I have no intention of ageing gracefully if gracefully means settling in to the background. No thank you. I intend to go out highkicking!!
...and wearing leopard print.

I don't have a fixed concept to my blog. I enjoy doing outfit posts because, well, it's fun! And it's helped me get over my shyness of being in front of the camera. I'm incredibly camera-phobic!

But I will say that I DO love seeing photos of you. You are a gorgeous lady! However I love the other sorts of posts that you write as well :)

Thank you! I’ll certainly check it out. To be honest I have consciously abstained from age-related blogs because I don’t really want age to be an issue, meaning I don’t want to be ‘40 but STILL fit’, I just want to BE. Age is a weird thing, because inside we don’t really change and always stay the young and curious person we know us to be. It’s just society (and mirrors) who sometimes tell us otherwise. My strategy is to just ignore the numbers, but sometimes, like yesterday, I do like to ponder and talk about it…

Adorngirl said...

great pic, it really summed her up, as she did love her prints throughout the week.

I think people ask for your pic on the blog,as it so nice to put a blog to a face so to speak, you could be commenting on each others blogs for ages, and wlak past each other in the street, and not even know.

Sabine...I love your blog! I love it because even though it's about fashion and all that jazz (I'm not much of a fashionista), your personality and overall awesomeness just shines through!! Please don't change a thing! As for my blog concept, I don't know...at the moment, there is none. But I would like that change down the road. I have some ideas, but not really enough time to execute them *sigh*

BTW - I can't believe you're 43! Not that that's "old", but you look half your age! Hell! You look younger than me! I think I need to start amping up my self care routine!

The leopard is back with a vengenance. I had a look at my fw pics and it kept popping up.

As for your blog content, go with the flow. don't corner yourself. that's what i love about blogging. you can just put anything on as long as it's decent.

Actually the blog mentioned is not 'Age related' - it's an excellent blog and a very well-written one at that (At least in my very humble opinion). Just thought I'd add that.

Ah, it is nice to catch up with you again. It is odd, but I also missed the you-shots during the LFW. On the age thing I think blogs may be a powerful tool to show the media that not just 14 year old giraffes sell. And on the theme of the blog I have been thinking about that lately too, I sometimes think maybe I am babbling too much about what is going on with me, and not enough about Copenhagen. But in the end I believe in going where the inspiration takes you. Even if it is home. :-)

Please please please do not leave the internet or this fashion blogging space to the 0 to 20 nothings, I was so so happy I found your blog precisely because you're the age you are, your content is great, your outfits rock and you don't waffle on about what you did at school/college.
Great photo of Brix Smith Start - is she really on the botox? Shame. I'm sure she doesn't need it.
