Psynopsis Costume National Shoes

Psynopsis Vintage Rodier Paris Sweater
Seeing the Marc Jacobs’ s/s 2011 collection was like 'Bang!' (get it? get it?!… Honestly, I ripped the ad out of the magazine and glued it bang on my fridge to better see Marc lasciviously rolling on aluminium foil and holding the perfume in front of his best bits). The fact that he’s leaving the 50s and 60s behind and jumps straight into the Studio 54 vibe, featuring flowy fabrics, strong patterns, satin and lots of colours (plus wonderful Missoni and Sonia Rykiel references) makes me love him even more.

So why black and white and structural photos from a building site*, you may wonder. Because a) if you take out the colours of MJ’s designs you are left with some pretty striking swirls & patterns, which b) gave me the opportunity to show you my old 70s Rodier Paris sweater, and c) I wasn’t at his show but stumbled through nearly finished houses instead.

70s and 90s, definitely my favourite fashion eras… What’s yours?

*My friends are building the most breathtaking, beautiful, modern, environmentally friendly, amazing, too-good-for-words house, which makes me wonder why I still don’t even own a hut very excited about taking and showing you pictures of the final result.

sweater: rodier paris, trousers: next, shoes: costume national

Mmm, that was such a yummy link, thank you! He is definitely back, Marc Jacobs, and I love the colors of the whole collection. My favorite eras are a little different, in jewelry it is 50-70's. The watches made around that time, sigh.. clotheswise, I say 1970s, I love the drama build into every outfit, even the daystuff. Now I almost feel like painting my wall or something, this was a good kick. :-) Sandra

Definitely 1950's, 1990's, and 1940's. I am such a sucker for an aline skirt! Beautiful photos.

I have been swooning all day about it!!! Isn't it fantastic? And I just love the black and white photos of yours. That Rodier Paris sweater is amazing!

Oh and Blanco...I hear there's one in London. Definitely Spain but I was researching last night and I believe there's one round your parts :)

That shirt is as divine in monochrome as it is in glorious technicolour.
It's the late 1960's & 1970's for me every time! xxx

I havent seen the show yet but am excited. The reviews were good from what I've seen and I always trust your opinion so it must be a good collection. Love Rodier also. Prints. Prints! Your top is gorgeous. I would wear it too.

Love MJ's collection. I love 50s and 60s styles; they are so pulled together.

That top is such a classic, love the geometric fabric. I dress in every kind of decade, whatever feels right bu if I could choose 60s mini's and Mary Quant.

Amazing images Sabine! You are a fantastic photographer!...and... finally I get the point of black & white photography!!!! My photographer friends will be so happy!
Seriously. I'm one of those artistically naive people :) who thinks that everything looks better in colour!
...but I understand now...

..and ohhhhhh...the MJ collection is divine!!!! grrr I LOVE!! and the shoes!!! ohmygoddd!! I have hated his shoes. hated. the ones he did for Louis Vuitton were oh too ugly for words but the shoes in this collection!! gasp. and the jumpsuits!! I need!!

Hmmm I'd have to say 50's, love the old school housewife dress and clean crisp look . . . but I love any look that is unique fun and bright:-)

Mmm I do love it when designers go down this route. Which is why I was so scared when Phoebe Philo left Chloe, and was replaced by someone who completely changed the aesthetic. Thankfully she didn't last long (though, I do feel sorry for her - that must have burned).
Anyhoo... Haha.

Marc Jacobs is a genius indeed. And you did a nice shoot to go with a talk about his latest. Era wise . . I would have to go with 60s, and it's not about all the hype really, but about what fits my body best and about my love for pin-up art. Yet 70s is the next best thing for me ;)

I

Sabine, you really ought to teach me how to be as stylish as yourself. You are such a talented photographer. Your style is very unique. It makes you stand out from amongst the growing trees of online fashionistas.

My fashion eras - where does one begin - 1837-1901, 1914 - 1955, 1960 - 1980, and the modern dfay fashion;-)

I have to check out his show online! You're the second post I've read this morning raving about Marc Jacobs show :) For me, the 60's were fab, but the 70's were so much fun!! Looking forward to the "revival"!

The sweater is awesome! WIll have to check out the entire MJ collection online.
My favorite era was the 70s. In India, they are making a sort of a come back in fashion. Isn't that great!
Love the B/W pictures. You carry all looks so fabulously.

I love the pattern on your sweater! My decades would definitely be the 1920s-40s!

your photos are so rad! they are just amazing!

marc jacobs. i have to admit that i have a bit of a problem with some of his designs, and almost all of his ad campaigns. but he churns out some good stuff every now and then.

oh, i sound like such an ass. go ahead and delete this comment if it irritates!

jamie-lee said...

I love that you did your photos in B&W, really allows one to appreciate the clothing without the colours clouding judgement (sometimes I find some colours put me off?) x

It's so funny because those are also my favorite, but they are nearly complete opposites. The 70's were so decadent, and well the 90s were minimalistic.

Love Grace.

I love the sweater, and the way you wear it.

The shoes are lovely too.

Uhm I'm torn between the 1920s (old glamour), and the chic ness of the 1960s. Difficult question! Ha

The colours of the jumper are so pretty. The 70's seem to be back as seen in Tracy Reese's collection this week!
