So over the Knees

Psynopsis Streetstyle London Floral Tights Nicholas Kirkwood Shoes
The other day I had a major fashion revelation… There are actually 2 ways to hide the unattractive, bulky middle bit of your legs – from the top and from the bottom (okay, trousers work too, but please give my philosophical coherence some leeway). And while everyone is talking about how very fashionable longer hemlines have become, the other version is still much more ubiquitous.

High or low - What will it be for you?

All pictures taken at London Fashion Week in September. I thought the last outfit was very cool – could she be a blogger? If anyone knows who this is, please give me a shout.

I love them...

Btw the last combo is my fave. Kron by KronKron shoes with Tsumori Chisato stockings! DIVINE!

Over the kneew tight are so sexy, I must say! Yet a bellow the knee skirt is so fashionable and generally flatering. Hard one. Should we go for ever-the-knee boots, though? :)

I think OTK socks are fun. Love the last pic!

Oh no... Oh no no no no... my thighs could not handle such a thing. Do you have any fashionable advice for people with short chunky legs that can't handle a fun print?

But I do love those last tights. Very fab with the shoes.

oh my, my last post was about this! blog snap! xx

Stick with me, Tiffany, and only wear dark tights. I do not wander anywhere else.

neither nor - for me at least, even though i really, really love overknees (and i do love looking at for example missoni's stockings, or those of prada's winter collection - fabulous).

but you got to shoot some gorgeous legs in overknees :) the first example is very interesting. like it. would like to see the whole outfit. however, great pictures!

Those are all so lovely!

I would love to embrace both knee socks and thigh highs, but knee socks tend to hit me mid-calf and thigh highs don't stay up :( My search continues!

Over the knee socks have never been my personal style, not even in my teens or early twenties. But there are some really nice legs on display here, I'll give them that much. When you've got it, why not flaunt it, indeed?

I've never tried knee socks but might buy a pair, try them at home and see if I'm brave enough to ear them outside the house! xx

I just love the look. I have to give it a shot...not quite sure I can pull it off though. I'm sure you could, my dear :) xoxo

I am loving the over the knee look. But if am to do it I want to hide my flesh with a block colour underneath. Is that acceptable? Sounds like you all had a ball at the O :-) Xxxx

I love anything over the knee! Totally trying this!

I'd been reluctant to try high socks, but you make a very good point about knee fat. My thighs are ghastly white things, but I could almost see trying the high socks as a richening (and distracting) layer between tights and my almost-knee high boots.

Your photos are nice, I love some of those cute ones :)

I think the reason I love them so, is that they look so cozy.

I adore the last picture especially, I'm racking my brains wondering if I have any tights that resemble those beauties lurking in the back of the drawer.

Sabine, great question. I love high, over the knee socks/stockings. I love the way Dioor and Prada showed how to wear them. I would, probably, go much easier for the shorter skirt and over the knee socks rather than choose longer skirt. Mid culf is not my favorite length at all.:-) I am enjoying having a time t visit you and read everything that I missed. So wonderful to see you posting so many fantastic new posts!

I think the over-the-knee look works best on the runway or in editorials. Other than that, to me it just looked a little too much like grown-ups trying to look like school girls. I love the last pic! But unfortunately not a fan of the mid-calf either, so I'll stick to short skirts with tights and knee-high or OTK boots :)

Ooooh i'm a little bit in love with the first OTK's!
I'm abit of a mini girl but i'm forcing myself into slightly longer lengths.

Not keen on over-knees, but the first picture is fabulous indeed.

The last is very quirky - she would certainly blend in around the Marais in Paris!
