he Catherine Baba turbanesque, oriental look normally is not for minimalistic me, but when two of my favourite bloggers – Vint Junky and Fashion, Art & Other Fancies recently looked phantastic in their kimonos it got me thinking… Even if I’m not stylista enough (or according to la Baba "styliste [French pronouncation, please!], baby, not stylist!") to wear the kimono for shopping it's still a pretty nice party coat… And so just purrrrrrrfect for christmassy lounging at fireplaces in long black dresses. Ou non, baby!?

kimono: from market in australia, dress: h&m, belt: 2nd hand, shoes: cesare paciotti, bag: mum’s cellar

Gorgeous! Love the extreme to the minimal look. I think it's perfect for an English party. Love that second shot of you.

Ah, it looks incredible on you! That green with your hair.
They require lounging, don't they? I have delusions of grandeur when I wear mine. Secretly hoping they require the wearer to be waited on, and fetched all festive food and drinks ;)

Oh Sabine, we're both posing by our fireplaces today! That kimono looks gorgeous on you. I have one of my Mum's which is exactly the same colour, I'd never thought of wearing it like that. It looks fantastic over that frock. xxx

Hmmm...the Oriental look is not for me, I'm afraid, even though I would love to have been able to carry it off. I bought a sari in the same kind of green color of your kimono, in Sri Lanka on holiday many years ago. I loved both the silk and the beautiful color. I still do, that's why it's still sitting in my closet, even though I have never found an occasion to wear it. Think I'll I ask my seamstress to redo it into a dress for me. Too great a fabric to give away.

Anyway, I'd love to see you try a more flashy belt with that black dress. I wonder if it wouldn't look cool with a belt matching the color of the jacket, or at least in gold or silver, depending on what kind of shine the kimono has.
