Psynopsis Antonio Berardi Sweater Vintage Skirt Wolford Tights Chloe Sandals
As someone whose main experience with wearing colours consists of putting them on enthusiastically in the morning just to change into something black/grey/beige/brown (okay, caaaamel) after breakfast because otherwise the whole day would feel weird, the new year resolution to wear more colours is no mean feat. But today I learned that orange is just a variation of brown, belonging to the same colour spectrum of 620-585 nanometers (actually it’s the other way round - brown is a variation of orange - but that doesn’t really matter in my world) there’s really NO excuse for for avoiding geoluhread* anymore.

What about you? Colourphob or colourphil?

*which is the old English name for orange – before they had discovered the fruit.

silk blouse: cos, sweater: antonio berardi, skirt: selfmade/vintage (from mum’s cellar), tights: wolford, sandals: chloe

Colourphobe - but it's a winter thing - I actually love your orange skirt. At least you make an attempt to wear colour before changing into black/grey (I don't even get to beige/brown in my spectrum!).
Fab shoes!

Beautiful skirt, the colour really suit you! I adore colours, the more the better in some cases. Maybe I should be doing the opposite to you and wearing more darker shades lol!!

Happy New Year! :)

That color looks fantastic on you! I'm definitely a colorphobe. About 90% of my wardrobe is made up of navy blue, and the only actual color I wear regularly is purple. Even then, it's usually a dark shade of purple, so it doesn't really count. Maybe I should try out more colors this year too.

Happy New Year! :-)

Beautiful skirt and it looks good on you.

Well... about .none% of my wardrobe is made up of grey... about 2% camels and beige, etc, 28% black and the rest... rainbowtox!

It's funny though... if I think about what you wear, I think of you in dazzling splashes of colour Sabine. Am I missing something?

Happy 2011. May it be all you make it to be.

I love wearing colours but I don't own anything that is orange. I must say that I adore the shade of orange you are wearing. Its just right and I would definitely wear it myself.

I LOVE color!! But i find it really hard to wear in NYC. Hence why I must move back down south where everyone wears tons of color :)

I hope 2011 brings you and your lovely blog nothing but joy and happiness!

Very colour, but hardly colour in western wear. I think I like the idea of orange skirts though! Wish you a rainbow year then :)

Hi my dear-the skirt is perfectly vibrant for right now, a very stylish alternative to neutral too! Happy New Year xxx

Ah, it depends upon my mood!!
Somedays I'm willing to wear colours that would make my eyes bleed! Other times I find it hard to shake black and neutrals. Although it's a seasonal thing for me too

You look great in colour sabine. I really like that tangerine orange skirt but also love you in the blues and greens you wear!

You look stunning, Sabine! When I was a blonde I didn't wear as much colour as I do now. I love people's positive reactions when I wear brights, it never fails to cheer folk up. xxx

I'm all about the brights, even when I wear black I usually add some colourful accessories. I love that you found out the old name for orange!! I have often wondered what they called that colour before the fruit made its way to the UK.

and about your comment on the osman post- it's denim yes. it's divine. love the cut of it.

i'm a vivid colors girl, so i'm trying to wear more patterns this year. it's already been tough. it's so easy to slide back into habits.

You are beautiful in bright geoluhread (yellowred, I assume?)!

I'm a colourphob, I'm afraid. I love to look at a variety of bright and rich colors, but they are not kind to my own muted pale coloring. I am inclined to wear very dark neutrals (black, charcoal, dark brown, navy) and add touches of color in shoes, jewelry, T-shirt (under a neutral cardi), and/or handbag.

oh, i miss you now i've seen proper pic of you again! you'll be at LFW, right? great shoes x

I like splashes of color, but I need to be in the mood for them, otherwise I won't feel comfortable all day. The burned orange is a lovely color though... I have a sweater in the same shade.

Wishing you a very happy new year my dear! How did your sale shopping go? Did you hit up Liberty's vintage department yet? ;-)

I'm a total colorphobe! But one of my goals this year is to update my wardobe and clean my closets. So hopefully, I'll try to incorporate more color this year...*hopefully* :) Hope you had a Happy New Year!!! Looking forward to more of your awesomeness in the new year!

Those are beautiful colours. I flip between a colourphobe and colourphile, but both make me happy :)

That orange skirt is stunning, Sabine. Apparently colour block is going to be huge for Spring so looking forward to indulging in a little colour! xx

Funny thing. I haven't really thought about it until I read this post of yours, but as a matter of fact my own use of color depends very much on the season.

In winter: Black, grey, dark brown, winter white, beige, navy, dark khaki/army green - and then some more black. Add the occasional splash of colour, usually a pink or purple scarf.

However, in summer I like a few more colourful things, especially pinks and a number of blue shades - all the way to bright turquoise. The coming trend for spring and summer of bright colours mixed together, like cobalt blue with yellow and purple, as shown in the Daily Mail here:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1343581/Spring-shopping-list-Want-fashions-season.html

you'll never see me wearing though. That is soooo not me.

I don't even like beige nor dark blue so basically my usual palette is grey. grey. grey. grey. black. black. black. Many different shades of grey though!

But funnily I adore colours in themselves, in every other field except my closet. Although I have an absolute passion for day-glow (obviously combined with... grey and black) tones. When I was younger I used to wear soooo many colourful tights but now they seem so strange to me! So I guess fluorescent colourphobic is my diagnostic!
Hope you'll stick with your resolution though cause you're doing the colourphile really nicely!
