I was suspicious of the cape. No arms and a billowy shape… Way too much fashion drama for my sober soul. But when I limped over Leicester Square (why do I think it's a good idea to do my Christmas shopping in 4-inch heels?), laden with bags, this guy runs after me, comes to a screeching halt and says: "I just wanted to tell you that you're the most elegantly dressed woman I've seen." And while I was (obviously!) thinking: 'These Skandinavian tourists should really drink less; he's definitely got a problem with his sight... and anyway, what does he think London is? Some kind of romantic Italian city?', giving him the now-now-young-man-you-mustn't-approach-ladies-walking-by-themselves look, I couldn't but think 'Aaaahh, nothing like a bit of drama dressing!' (…and torturous heels. Come no!)
Don't forget to check out how MJ, Sarah, Sherin, Paula, Jazmine, Vicki, Adele (who did the great collage below), Jen and Ellie styled the magical cape. (They will probably also give a bit more proper information about the cape, instead of just telling silly, self-indulgent stories.)cape: courtesy of asos, t-shirt: miss sixty, trousers: next, hat: eric bompard

It looks great on you, Sabine and all the better for the story of a stranger admiring it. xxx

Gorgeous oufit! <3
Love that story!!! You look so cut with the hood up too! I have a similar Topshop one and when I wore it to work the other day, they told me I looked like Sherlock
Hannah xx
Oh Sabine that story is fantastic! And you great in it, I love the more casual look, think I'll have to try it that way too!x
I adore this and am envious of all of you! I particularly love that first photo of you. Divine!
i completely agree with the random guy...i loved your take on it as soon as i saw it
You look really brilliant in this. I would have been running up to you too but asking to take your pic. Love it. Will look out for the mag. Thank you again. Xxxx
The cape looks so cute with the stripey sleeves peeping out - love this look. xx
You definitely deserve that compliment. He was a smart man! ... And I BADLY want that cape!
Look at you....Sabine The Showstopper!! My head would be so big if someone ever said that to me, I wouldn't fit thru my doorway ;o) And I also love this cape! My favorite so far from the Take 10 Challenge!
Why of course you are the most elegantly dresses woman ever! I love how you wear it. No wonder he approached u :) xoxo
Sabine, what a fab story! You do look utterly elegant and completely composed in the cape of dreams. Love the photography too. x
It is so much fun seeing how you ladies style a piece differently -- especially a challenging piece like a cape. I love your rainbow stripes for a classy bit of color and pattern against the camel.
The little peep of stripes looks fab x
classy cape action
Ahhh I think this is my favourite challenge for everyone so far, I really love the striped sleeves poking out slightly. And what a great complement! I haven't tried a cape yet but hopefully that will change one day.
Oooooh my gosh!!!! I am so jealous right now. Literally. I love that cape and you are so gorgeous!!!
But you DO look gorgeous and stylish! The details on the sleeve and neckline of the sweater underneath add that special touch of fun to the classic cut of the cape.
Love that story. It is worth trying a new trend just for that.
aaaaah, this was an easy one, no? you (and the other ladies alike btw) look so beautiful in this cape. and oh man, your legs - i'm so jealous of your perfect pins.
god bless the (male) Skandinavian tourists (and please send one of them my way).
sabine, to get a compliment from another woman is nice, but to get it from a man... - if you weren't already married (i assume you are - if not) you should marry that romantic young fella :)
and just in case you didn't read my tweet - man, i really think i need to work on my blog layout... with your new header your blog looks really classy! good job!
Oh Sabine! I ADORE it!

Haha, loved the story! you definitely look really good in the cape. You make it look so warm!
You knocked this one out the park Sabine! Funny story with the tourist.
What a delicious story - fit to be eaten and relished! The cape is so lovely on you - and I must confess that you wear it with such confidence and style - that's you, my dear, that's you!
You look fabulous Sabine.
omg! what a lovely style you have! i already am a follower!come check my blog too, you`ll love it! would you like to follow back? best regards from Gaby
Wow. You look beautiful! You rocked that look right out of the park.
I have been suspicious of those capes too - but looking at it on you I know LOVE it. Wish it was cold enough here to wear one. We are having summer weather in Winter - go figure...
interesting how many of us are (were) suspicious of the classic cape. i bought one recently and am in love with it!! i am no longer suspicious of its funny shape/no arms aspect.
nice story to go w/ your cape shots. and i like your editing, very warm.
It's such a gorgeous color!
You look fabulous! and I love the story about the guy who approached you ...he is clever because you are super elegant ... and I imagine you with the cape around London, fabulous YOU!

you look super! and what a compliment! HE WAS RIGHT!!! love it!!!!
have a good weekend!!!!!
OOOH love the cape, it suits you so well too !

I like it. And I'll take a compliment from a stranger anyday! Unless it's rude and comes along with a whistle or an inappropriately-placed "dayummm!"
I've seen this ASOS cape a lot, along with a few other capes from other places. I like them, but I understand your apprehension about the billowy shape. You pull it off great, though! And so does everyone else. My word. I think ASOS cape = instant style.
AH come on.....a little bit of innocent compliment brightens everyone's day :)I myself have never worn a cape....and am kind of waiting for this trend to die so that I can wear a cape and look unusual but you pull it off brilliantly. Camel is a hard colour to wear too and it looks very polished on you. :) Wish I could see you that day.
Look forward to hearing from you

cool cape!you are all so lucky!by the way loved you tie die shots!!!
Incredible! I love everyone's different style while wearing the same cape ;) You look gorgeous!
i love how you styled this cape! it looks so gorgeous on you!
Great story, I love it when that happens, although with me it has not been a Scandinavian youth running towards me, but rather a large middle aged American tourist coming up to my table at a cafe and telling me he loved the colours I was wearing together (cobalt blue jacket and red necklace, from memory). Oh well, got to take what you can get! And so funny how everyone's doing posts about capes lately!! Love this one on you, the Scandinavian certainly had the right idea!
amazing camel trophy!!!!...great selection
I love your style and your blog
to forget...the cape is fabulous

It IS very elegant on you, he was not short sighted or inebriated! and i didn't realise it had a hood. Even better.
People only chase after me when i've been searching through my shambolic bag for something and have left a little hansel and gretel like trail behind me....sniff...
Don't believe a word, Nic, don't believe a word!
The hood is cute, isn't it?
I am a cape lover for all its drama as a garment but am allergic to camel in all its incarnations - with these photos you have almost convinced me to try a camel cape - no wonder you had young men chasing you down the street!
definitely drama dressing. you pulled it off :)
http://youareashootingstar.blogspot.com/
you look amazing in it-
oh i wish i could take part in that fun challenge-
you're all so inspiring
xx
LOVE how stylish all these outfits are :)
love the cape
oh my gaaawd! you are SO lucky! A cape! I managed to persuade my mum to get one from Topshop very similar but it was £90! I was very jealous, it looks so dramatic and goood!
Your styling is definitely one of my faves but then the beauty of it is that it covers up so much that you can look rubbish underneath and noone would know! hehe
