Psynopsis John Rocha Knit Dress

Psynopsis Hand Knitting
This is it. This is the dress that made me sign up for the machine knitting course at CSM. All I could think of when I spotted it (on Kazuko’s blog) was: 'I want to be able to make something like this!' By now I've learned that these John Rocha dresses are all hand knitted, but it's too late… I've started my struggle with the knitting machine and realised that putting the designs that are in my head into reality is so not easy. No worries, I'm not going to bore you to death by sharing all my knitting thoughts… Just one little thing - beige and pink? Lovely combination, no?

I'm off to the Most Wanted Fashion Revolution Party tonight. Petit fours and macaroons, and watching Marie Antoinette. Should be good. Muah, muah!

That is a splendid dress! Now I'm no fashionista, but I would totally want that in my wardrobe too :) I often experience the same thing with photography. Often I want a certain effect, but I can never capture. Then I realize I might not have the right equipment for the job :o/ You live and you learn...I guess.

That John Rocha dress is so beautiful! I can totally see why you wanted to start knitting, if the idea was to create something like that. My mum loves knitting (she does it by hand). Maybe I should forward a photo of a John Rocha dress to her with a subtle hint....

That is a great dress and I would love to be able to make something like it. But knitting like that is so hard! It's like engineering.

hehe very cute dress. So you have lived in Australia before Sabine?

SabinePsynopsis said...

I have, I have, Heather. I lived in Canberry as a kid (that was in the 70s and I developed a really lovely Australian accent); and about 10 years ago I stayed in the Byron Bay area with Sarah and the bf for 6 months (that was more like a veeeeery long holiday). Loved it!

I'm envious of anyone who can knit ANYTHING. That color combination is gorgeous. I don't know if you're familiar with Nnenna or her blog, but she does a post about stuff she's knitted every week. It's one of my favorite things to read! She creates some lovely things...I'm still in awe that one person can make such professional looking clothes. Anyway, her blog URL is http://starcrossedsmile.blogspot.com if you're interested!

u can do it hunny...., keep at it!!! hehehe... im saying that for encouragement but i caNT PULL THAT OFF IN MY 7 LIFES!!

Oh but that's ok, because you will handle it, and it's so much better to be challenged than just to float thourgh things, because you're gonna come out of it on the other end and you will be a super knitter extraordinaire! :)
I can't wait to see some of YOUR finished products , and then one day buy them as well, when you're a big shotgun designer with her own line, i'll be like 'oh back in the day I used to read her blog' :P

Hi Sabine! First off, that dress is gorgeous- I love how swingy it is at the bottom! Also, the color combination of pink and beige is lovely :) Thanks so much for your comment on my blog! Machine knitting sounds really interesting (I've never tried anything like that before) and I can't wait to read more about your course!

When next we meet up, please bore me with your knitting thoughts! I really wanted to ask when I saw you but a group of girls.. impossible.

Beige and pink - that pink- my favourite current combo! (re: top post, yes I am so in the mood for bright neon colours). But I especially like hot pink with beige, or camel, or even brown like you've worn at times.

I didn't know John Rocha's clothes are all hand sewn: I saw his show last lfw and fell in love with him: his show was like the best one I saw. And I was sitting at Hilary Alexander's feet at the front row watching her take notes in a little black book!
