Take 10 | Matalan Tapestry Bowling Bag

Psynopsis Matalan Tapestry Bag
Ideally Scott would have jumped at me and asked me if he could take my picture when I was standing in front of him clutching the Matalan Tapestry Bowling bag (tapestry bowling?? I really need to look up what this actually means) which I took along to Somerset House to finally get an outfit pic of it. But he didn't. Now, being The Sartorialist he might have smelled that this is only an £8.- high street design, or perhaps my style just wasn't up to scratch… And that's probably the reason why I look forlorn and disappointed (or maybe I was just tired and 'hormonal')...
What can I say? The bag is kinda cute and at this price you can't complain about the fake leather and flimsiness, but being me, I'd probably get myself an old, real leather granny bag at Oxfam for the money.
Psynopsis Vintage Mey and Edlich Blazer Matalan Tapestry Bag New Look Curdoroy Trousers

Our Take 10 group keeps being a happy merry-go-round. We sadly lost Jazmine, but gained Harriet who I think is a wonderful addition to the group. She also showed true team spirit by immediately volunteering to do the collage. The rest of the bunch naturally also has a bag story to tell. So don't forget to check out Jen, Sarah, MJ, Sherin, Vicki, Adele, Ellie and Paula!

P.S. The cute pendant you can see in the background of the 1st picture was sent to me from Vix for winning a giveaway. The 1st time EVER I won something… So double Thank You, Vix!

Who is the blogger standing next to the column? I love her look!

that's such a beautiful outfit. very dries van noten (whose fall collection i absolutely adore! have you seen it already?). your jacket (you've worn it before, no?) is unique!

i've got a similar bag (replace the flowers by cats) - it was a present by my mum (but she didn't really expect me to wear it - and she was right. it's more for decoration). :)

LOve that look and how you did the tapestry blazer as well. how much does knitting machines cost? must be very expensive right? but i wanna get one! after i find a class to attend as well..

i love the colours you are wearing suit so well this bag, even if it wouldn't be your usual style (or mine), it suits you so well.

Dancing Branflake - That's Paula from PinkBow. You'll love her blog - lots of wonderful pictures in the beautiful British countryside. Just click on the comment above to get to her blog.

Ediot - It's not thaaat expensive. Around 100-150£ depends on the condition etc. Go for it! I might be moaning, but it really is good fun and very exciting to do your own knit designs.

Kazuko - Yeap, I looked at it today. I think I light the ss collection better, but maybe I've got to look againg. But what is it with THE BLUE this season? It's everywhere! Zac Posen had all shades of blue... but generally it's this very bright, pure blue.

Sabine,
yours is my favorite(really!), oh... all the wonderful textures & colors!
the way You posed too!!

Vintage Vixen said...

You look glorious, Sabine! That blazer is proper vintage looking tapestry and your cords look wonderful. Not keen on the bag, as you say you can pick up bona fine granny bags from Oxfam that would have the edge of newness knocked off. xxx

Fashionistable said...

Great shots Sabine. Not sure about the bag though. Would I buy it. Nope it is not for me. Xxxx

tanvii.com said...

Love the first shot and the pendant in it!!! Also like how all of you bloggers have styled it but I too, do not think the bag is for me.

Jen said...

Love all the different fabrics in your outfit Sabine. Also, 'tapestry bowling' sounds like an oxymoron to me! x

I agree with fashionistable. The pictures look great but the bag does not do it for me either.

It would have if they had invested a little more time and energy in making it at least look better in terms of using real leather and better stitching to give it more structure and presence.

Incredible styling! You are seriously amazing!

I like this Project Take 10 thing. What's it all about? I mean, I know it's kind of obvious...do you all buy the same item or what? Am I stupid? Wait, don't answer that one.

I really like the bag. You all wore it so uniquely, too. I think your way is the most creative, though. Whoop whoop!

Congrats on finally winning something! I love blog giveaways (um, did I mention we're having one at the moment? :P )
Too bad sartorialist didn't snap you, but he'll regret it one day when you're a super famous designer or something :)

SabinePsynopsis said...

Filipa - Oh merci! I think I would always give him a 2nd chance (even though I'm terrified of being photographed).

Maddy said...

Not a fan of the bag :( Not that granny bags are m things, but I was going to get one, it'd be a thrifted one with all the wear and tear of a really granny vintage bag :)

I really love how you matched the bag up with that great jacket- like they were made for each other!

Thanks for welcoming me to the team!

I have to chuckle at your candor about the bag. When I saw it on PinkBow's site, I had to agree with her -- I wouldn't have chosen it for myself. It looks very early 1990s Victoriana "shabby chic" to me, totally not my style. I like how you've accentuated the warm tawny colors in your garments and lighting, though.

Love the flares, Sabine. With you on the fake leather, would rather find a beaten-up version in a charity shop. xx

Sabine you always ace every single challenge. Love how you paired it with that fabulous blazer!

Glad you're having such a great weekend, sweetie! Enjoy the rest of it :) xoxo

Few people can pull off this kind of outfit. You look great as always. That blazer, the fabric and print is amazing!!! And the bag with the blazer is kinda matchy matchy, which I love!! :)

This is a very cool blazer and look my friend!

I can't say I'm feeling the bag (it looks cheap, despite your excellent photography skills), but I like your outfit. The tapestry blazer is great and I have very similar bootcut corduroy jeans in camel dating back from my uni years, which I haven't worn since. Does that mean I can dig them out again??

MyStyle said...

Hi my dear-you look totally amazing-I love your jacket and the whole outfit is pure style, not sure about the bag though.Colourwise it blends in well, I think it would look better a touch bigger xx

Sabine, I love your look and color combinations, but I am not so sure about the bag yet. I am usually very decisive on things but somehow can not make my mind up about the bag!
