Life | The Clean-Out

Psynopsis Zara Floral Blazer
What do you do with your old clothes? I'm not even that big a shopper, but over the years stuff has been accumulating. First they needed an extra trunk, then an additional room… 'Nooo, I cannot give this away – in a few years big, round shoulders will be so in again (and they are), and wide cropped tops… totally (and who would have thought?). But will I ever wear cropped tops again? Or the blazer I loved in the 90s?? And in any case, this year is 'the year of letting go' (more about this soon) which means a) getting rid of a ton of rarely worn items, b) trying not to accumulate more. It's going pretty well – no shopping in 6 months, except this one blazer in the Zara sale (yeap, it's true!). Saw it, grabbed the last one in the row and on my way to the cash excited tourists nearly tackled me to the ground to get their hands on it. 'No-no-no, it's MINE!' (and I thought floral blazers had their moment 2 years ago)… Anyhow - WHAT do you do with your old clothes?? ♥ ♥ ♥

P.S. No, let's not talk about the weather. It's too sad.

blazer: zara, t-shirt and trousers: topshop. Thank you, Sarah, for taking the pictures!

I don't blame you for snapping up that blazer, it's so pretty and looks like Summer even if the weather doesn't!
I donate to charity/ sell on eBay/ refashion or pass on to friends otherwise I think I'd drown in a sea of clothes, a good way to go but I'm not ready yet! x

Gorgeous photos, Sabine!!!!
I just gave half my wardrobe to a friend. She has four kids and their annual clothing allowance is $150. My brain couldn't wrap it's head around that. So I gave her what I liked but didn't love. Then went shopping again, hee hee.

oh it is so hard to know what to do! there are hoarders and there are chuckers. i used to be a chucker and i would give away clothes all of the time. but clothes are EXPENSIVE and everything comes back in style, so i am not sure what to do at this point! i move stuff out of the way that i do not want to wear NOW, but i am kind of afraid to give much away now. sigh. there is always a shortage of closet space, tho. ugh! tricky!

LOVE. Miss you. Did you get my reply? xo

I hoard. So no advice to give you. Sounds like you have been doing reasonably well if you haven't been shopping for 6 months. Kudos! Love the blazer!

Oh that was well breaking the shopping freeze, Sabine! It's fabulous! As far as old clothes, I'm ashamed to say I have bags and bags of old clothes to donate but I haven't made the time to actually bring them anywhere so they're in my storage unit. I'm planning on setting this straight as soon as the fall rolls around.

Hope you're having a great start to the week! xoxo

That floral printed wonder is gorgeous! I usually have clothing swaps with friends, and even when mail them stuff i know they can fit vice versa. Otherwise, I donate to charity. Love the photos! -xo

I do exactly the same as Vix.
Love your jacket so much.
The weather will get better after we arrived in England on the 26th. Just wait and see.

I'm the worst hoarder, but the only reason I've ever managed to get rid of some of my stuff, was because I've moved house so often. I've given away items that a year or more later I wish I had kept (yes, because they suddenly became trendy again), so I'm really wary about letting go, unless it's damaged. The blazer is a good buy though!

At the moment the clothes I don't wear anymore live in my *ahem* second wardrobe... there has to be a waiting period you see, just in case I suddenly discover I can't live without one of them!

Aparently when my boyfriend moves in I'm not allowed two wardrobes though, so I'm planning on doing a massive carboot sale in August to say goodbye to my old clothes and hopefully make a few pennies too!

Who needs wildflowers if we have you and your blazer in the countryside? Love it! I'm finally coming around to all these florals and wild, colorful prints.

As for what to do with clothes, I am the worst person to ask -- except for the fact that I barely shopped over the past 2 years while we were renovating our house. I did know this student back at university. He wanted to be a monk, so he burned all his belongings before heading into the monastery. Sadly, he got kicked out after a while. By the time I met him at uni, he had some clothes on his back again (though his head was still shorn). I don't think this path helps any of us!

OK you are totally inspiring me to clean out/not buy/be good. Kinda of hating you for that right now (-:
